Look at how many buyers there are in Minnesota (15k vs. 563k in CA):
https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10962
Add CA, FL, TX, WA and you pretty much have more EVs than every single other state combined.
Range is important, but honestly, a lot of folks won't use them for long trips because even if...
I disagree and here is what the article says.
“We are not going to cede ground to anyone."
Only Tesla has really cut prices so if no one cuts prices to below IRA, why does Ford need to? Every article I've seen about this mentions the price war soon to come and it was done due to Tesla's...
I didn't know Tesla has a 360 degree camera? I think I saw a vid once where someone was showing like a simulated car block thing or something, but looks like a 80s pixel game or something. Looks pretty bad unless they added something new, but I don't think it's possible because they have...
All true and they all care, but it's still just 1 data point that some people I feel like to overinflate that it's more important than other things. I give you that price is the major one only. The supercharging network is also huge, but not everyone needs that.
I disagree though that a...
I actually think price is the biggest determination. The extra range is nice, but not needed by a lot of people I feel, but they will get it "thinking" it will be needed and there is no option for SR Model Y yet. Performance is nothing for a lot of people you look at who actually drives a MY...
I've seen these checks take like 75+ days I think from other posts. Ford has been slow to process them from what I read.
Did you finally decide on Ioniq or MME?
I think it was more that the MY was insanely overpriced when they jacked it up by $20k from like $50k in 2021 to $68k in 2022. Ford is merely responding to Tesla and had little/no choice. Ford's margins on these weren't that great unlike Tesla which has a lot more margin.
Ford can't compete with the < $55k Model Y, go buy that if that's what you like more. Tesla's advertised ranges are normally higher than real world use case from every test/article/review done. You can find/look that up. Some Ford Mach-Es can go up to 344 (CA Rte 1).
I don't think the Tesla of 2018 is the same as Tesla of 2023. Tesla almost went under during those times, now, you're just a number:
https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/04/tech/elon-musk-tesla-once-got-near-bankruptcy/index.html
Not saying Ford will do more than required, but everything I've...
You do know that Tesla has lower real world range than advertised right (you can google any article). A lot of folks won't take a non-USS car from posts I read, but you are free to believe camera only is superior.
As long as you're happy, that's good enough. I still don't buy any comparisons...
This is more a dealership problem. I got mine in 2022 as well and got all price protections + options + model year change + all incentives.
Ford hates the dealership problem too, but we have franchise laws protecting dealers. Why they are rolling out Model E or something.
If you didn't get...
You're also leaving out that both GM/Ford are big union shops. Toyota has had production in the US for a long time as well as other brands. When your jobs/salary/cost is higher than your competition because they aren't union, it's a big unfair/penalty I feel. Sorta like Amazon, Uber, gig...
I really hope other automakers can do this. More options/competition for Tesla is a good thing I feel and the new IRA was a boon for Tesla and hurt near all other EV makers. It'd be a bad thing for everyone if the only EV option was Tesla.
True, if you order and get it in time. I guess there is some risk there with your particular VIN with build quality and missing radar currently, but true that you can order and wait. Downside is you lose your order fee if you change your mind, but you make a valid point.
Like a lot of things manufactured, there are a lot of fixed costs you can't wittle away. Whether a worker makes a Select or a GT, their pay is the same. Benefits, healthcare, everything has a bottom cost that it's hard for any manufacturer to go under. Select's probably simply had less room.
Totally, I've stated early in this thread that Ford simply can't compete on price for the ER batteries. I think all the < $55k options (Select, Premium with SR) are compelling options if you don't plan to road trip a lot.
Remember that Tesla has like 0 < $55k MYLR so it's not a tax credit for...
The CR1 does seem like an outlier. I'm guessing Ford will kill that model soon/eventually and the high price is because they don't really want to make it. We'll see :)
Would be a nice gesture to do this to treat your customers as humans vs. a number. We know Tesla didn't do this at all (and there are tons of upset people) and some folks lost $20k if they bought in early December. Do you have a link of them actually stating this?
This will definitely be a...
Your friend is right, but no other EV maker does too neither. If I had to choose a > $55k MY or a > $55k Premium Mach-e, I'd go with the Mach-e personally, but I have never liked the bland, dime a dozen, everyone owns a egg (replace with your own view of what a MY looks like) looking car...
Are there even on the lot Lightnings? Would be awesome to pick up a base one at MSRP ~$40k, but those were probably rarely built early on. :)
I'm thinking Ford has a very hard time competing with the extended battery option due to their own costs. For long road trippers, the Tesla MY is...
