What brought me to this thread is that it's happening too me now as well. Mainly not until I'm at least 15 min. into a commute and anecdotally, it seems to be in a location where cell service is spotty. Seems like it started after the 4.x OTAs.
The basic question this and many other similar threads beg is what would you be willing to pay, on top of your direct costs, to guarantee you had a hassle free, minimum transit time trip? Remember Kettleman City? One where the recharge stations had a working charger with your name on it when...
Although I agree with the basic arithmetic and critique that has been raised here and elsewhere about the substantial power and energy requirements to convert the US fleet from ICE to BEV, clearly this isn't going to happen overnight, and further there is a lot of academic thinking on how power...
The difference seems obvious to me. Tesla saw infrastructure as essential to their business model, whereas, EA was VW's penance for having lied about "clean diesel." Tesla bought in, VW couldn't wait "to be done."
Almost every major manufacturer claims they will eliminate ICE from their lineups by the mid-2030s. If BEV is *the* platform for ZEVs, and I don't see fuel cells overtaking anytime soon, (if you want a long haul nightmare try a Mirai) then the infrastructure has to massively mature to where...
The video below, reposted in another thread over a year ago, illustrates the long haul grass ain't any greener, just another shade of grey.
The solution isn't simply more taps, which, of course, is necessary, but a different approach to long haul traveling in the age of 65-75 kWh legs. Seems...
Okay, make it a 1 min parking sign, it's not happening at a fuel station. Rather than developing dedicated charging stations, companies like EA or EVGo are dropping towers in existing lots, which just begs the ICE crowd to act passive aggressively.
I'm lucky to live in an EV friendly region...
So after my increasingly frustrated rants on Wed. about CarPlay not connecting and Ford's poor engineering culture and all that, guess what happened to me Wed. evening on the way home?
No, not an SSN, knocking on wood for now, I jumped in and figured I'd just listen to my own thoughts on the...
With which OTA did the profile issue start? At the moment my profile appears to be correctly associated with my PaaK both upon cold entry or during a scheduled departure time. However, if I do a remote start to precondition it won't recognize the profile upon entry even though it detects the...
I don't have to reboot, I can just go without CarPlay, or plug in using a cord.
As for the dealership, why should I have to expend my valuable time (several hours during a very busy day) to fix a problem @Ford Motor Company created/enabled? It came via OTA, it should go away via OTA, the...
Yeah, not surprised it didn't fix the issue, I was being naively optimistic after having had so many months of trouble free use. With a 30 min. commute CarPlay is de rigueur. Thankfully the reboot time is short compared to the commute.
As for the permutations, they should be running any new...
Good value engineering, with appropriate attention to reviews from design to release is independent of hardware or software. It's a culture, one which Ford clearly didn't take seriously when developing this car. I'm sure this was the classic rush to market by "cash in their eyes" shit...
That's a bummer. The GOM I can deal with, having to reboot each time is crap engineering. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since they clearly crapped the bed on the HVJB contactors.
FWIW, I've had my 4XP for a year now and I'm not in EA. I find that I'm getting the updates a few weeks to a month after folks start chatting about them here. Your are 100% correct about bugs, even when they are pushed to non-EA folks. The last power up (3.5.4) has broken my wireless...
Rebooting does work, but I now have to reboot Synch 4 on every new trip to get CarPlay to connect wirelessly.
For me wireless CarPlay worked fine until the 3.5.4 OTA.
