As a vintage Model S owner I chuckled.
I bought my 60 kWh with 161k on the clock. EPA range was 208 when new, projected is like 185-190 at 100% SOC, which puts it at around 10% degradation after 10 years/160k miles. In reality, I charge it about once a week, and the real range with that method...
Free charging is largely gone here, save for a handful of 6kw Volta chargers that are often broken. Your point is well taken though. I also think it shouldn't be free (as Todd mentioned, someone is paying for it).
I think the majority of people will utilize "free" given the opportunity, whether...
NCM batteries degrade just sitting, especially at at high SOC, which is part of why manufacturers suggest to charge to less than 90% for regular usage.
They charge at like an average of 1-1.5C on DCFC right? When I was into RC cars, you never really wanted to exceed 1C to keep the best battery life. And that's RC quality materials, I'm sure EV batteries are better.
Good notes, thank you.
That's the thing, some folks want that speed and convenience, especially if home and work charging is not available. I think that ties into your point earlier about selling itself and being comparable to ICE, if Public charging was as easy and accessible as gas stations...
I've lived in or near San Francisco my entire life, so I don't have a perspective of rural America. I'd be curious to know if we have any rural folks on the forum and their perspectives.
I'd think that those living far outside cities would have the best home charging availability. As far as...
Aren't you and @DevSecOps the outliers here? 143 miles one way? That's an abnormal commute. I am infinitely curious as to what you do for a living that, A: Requires that far of a commute, and B: makes it worth it.
Range is an important factor, but the average driver drives 29-45 miles per day...

There were a lot of anti-hybrid people when the Prius came out, lots of bad regurgitated info about batteries, durability of the engine starting/stopping so much, reliability of such a "complex" transmission, etc... In true Toyota fashion, they've made hybrid tech staid and boring enough to sell...
Kinda moot, the Escape PHEV doesn't get higher than about $48k fully decked. That's if they could build the dang things. We sell them before they arrive, I could turn 100 of them if I had them.
That is odd, maybe they were updated post production, or in transit?
I looked at it and it's 1/2/23, production stopped completely from Jan to mid February, can't imagine it's anything other than maybe LFP changeover? Guess we'll find out in March or so
Ford hasn't communicated what's contained in 23.5MY, but there was no scheduling for January through half of February. Usually Job 2s are mid year updates to change functionality/features. Occasionally new trims/options are available at J2 as well.
So far it hasn't been necessary. FWIW, the Days Supply still isn't very high. I'm not worried about it ATM. If I still have units 60+ days from now, I'll get a little more concerned.
Nothing yet, I know they're probably working on something.
FWIW, Tesla didn't have any issues with selling their cars for the last couple years. I believe the Mach E to be a better vehicle. The tax credit will affect it vs the 7 seat Y though.
