R1T? When I compare the RIT quad motor to the Mach-E GT on a 1070mi route down the east coast, the vehicles are within 2 minutes of each other (6hrs 21m vs 6hrs 19m).
It's absolutely about reducing weight (and cost associated with weight). Mach-E already uses (multiple) CAN Bus. Different modules from different manufacturers already talk to each other. What this does if I am understanding correctly is instead of having a single wire trace from (components...
Some thoughts:
1. Steer by wire: Having a variable ratio is honestly a little scary to me outside of a racing environment. Most folks already can't park and now we're going to make wheel turn variable? The only benefit I see is if if allows engineers to make the cabin safer by removing the...
1. Munro's entire schtick is increasing manufacturing profit / efficiency. If you watch a few of his videos (btw, if he was half as good as he thinks he is, he wouldn't have time for youtube vids) the script becomes pretty apparent: Everything made of steel should be made of aluminum...
Their excuse for including it is even more stupid - they said they did it as an audible indication of speed on the track or some such nonsense.
I like V8s, own 2 cars that have them - if I wanted engine noises or shifting I'd buy a car with that.
In my experience - yes, Ford dealers are objectively better. Hyundai/Kia's entire sales model seems based on you signing up for their crappy credit which is obviously targeted at people with credit "issues". It took me 3 days of emails back and forth telling the car salesman I didn't want or...
I drove over 150mi to get my GT from Pacifico Ford in Philly after buying my Escape PHEV from them the year before.
Great dealer, no BS, paid MSRP when everyone else was upcharging.
Neither can the Kia/Hyundai dealerships.
I took a look at an Ioniq as a second BEV and the entire dealership experience was disgusting. When you talk to others, this isn’t an isolated experience either.
The car also felt cheap.
Agree. My office building has two "free" chargers. They're only 12A and there's a 4hr limit.
People with $100k EVs will stalk the chargers trying to get their free buck fifty of electricity.
Ford sells kits complete with wiring harnesses and a PCM to put in any-year car. You could (and people do) put a 5.0 Coyote engine with a 10spd transmission in a classic car. They're all doing it for reliability or power though, not so much efficiency.
As for Tesla, I don't disagree but...
