Taxpayer Funds Given to Build Zero Chargers???

Exactly. The California deal required credit card readers. Tesla ultimately decided it wasn't worth it. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/tesla-says-no-thanks-to-california-subsidies-for-supercharger-projects/

    Boycotting 6.8

The tiles were a bigger deal because it took away actual data. A functional loss. AFAIK, this is pure aesthetics, no function.

Taxpayer Funds Given to Build Zero Chargers???

Not sure how easy. Tesla decides where to build their network, not the states or feds. They don't seem to be very influenced by the subsidies either (they turned down a significant subsidy deal from California in the last year because of the strings attached). Tesla finally agreed to actually...

Taxpayer Funds Given to Build Zero Chargers???

Because their state residents are stuck paying the federal taxes for it regardless, yes. If you're stuck paying for it anyway, it's not a real choice to turn down your own money that's effectively laundered through the federal government. Now, if it were a real choice to turn down the whole...

    100% EV now...

We replaced a 2013 Escape with a new 2023 Bronco Sport in the summer. But the Mach-E gets 80% of the miles, which is what really counts. Wish they made a PHEV Bronco Sport. Then we'd be about 95%.

On the Fence after watching Mach E's thermal system nightmare

I thought most Jews *were* white? 🤷 All this race trumpeting is so tiresome. Especially for a car forum.

Taxpayer Funds Given to Build Zero Chargers???

Yep. Just as many blue states way behind as red (CA, NY, NJ, MA, WA...). The only common thread is the federal govt, and the rules/conditions they placed on the the funding. Rules like credit card readers because some people complain about having another app on their phones. Holding the good...

New Tire Suggestions for 2022 MME GT Performance Edition?

I just replaced my original Michelin Primacy's (47k miles) with the Hankook's. They seem very similar, but a bit quieter. I don't have a PE though, just an AWD ER First Edition. And I don't drive it like a sports car, or drive dirt roads. Mostly highway driving. I still had 4/32nds on the...

Good article on state of NEVI funding of chargers

But only V2s. Useless to us unless they upgrade them.

Good article on state of NEVI funding of chargers

The speed of government. Except when they want to impose mandates on us and manipulate the market, of course. Been saying all along that this EV transition will take much longer that some expect/wanted. And will only be partial, not absolute.

Good article on state of NEVI funding of chargers

They really need far better DCFC on 95 between Vegas and Reno. We either have to drive the ICE, or detour all the way down to Barstow and use 395, adding hours. And Superchargers will be no help there next year. They're all V2s.

    PowerUp 6.8.0 released

I'd totally forgotten that it moves around too. I just got used to it. Wherever it is on the screen, seems like it ought to stay in one consistent place though.

    PowerUp 6.8.0 released

Could be. I don't think it does outside the charge window but it might while charging. My charge window is set to overnight and I never thought to deactivate the schedule to test that.

    PowerUp 6.8.0 released

Depending on where it's starting from, of course, but yeah, it takes a lot longer than I would have expected. I've done it twice in the last few weeks and it took hours. I really don't know how the LVB SOC% even gets determined. Seems to overlap with voltage but only somewhat. I can show a...

    PowerUp 6.8.0 released

I can't remember ever seeing the speedometer in the center. I think mine's always on the right, next to the speed limit. Unless I'm totally blanking out here. 🤔

    PowerUp 6.8.0 released

That LVB SOC is a frequent problem. It's pretty common for the LVB SOC to fall below 75% if the car hasn't been ON in the last 24 hours for the DC-DC to kick on and feed the 12v system and charge/maintain the LVB. (Why the car isn't checking that hourly 24x7 and kicking in a DC-DC charge if...

On the Fence after watching Mach E's thermal system nightmare

Yeah, some things certainly changed from that scenario. For one, we decided to bite the bullet (and the 100 bucks) and get a hotel room to break that Denver-Vegas drive into 2 days. I still wouldn't do it in one day (as we did in the Escape prior to the Mach-E). It was 12 hours in ICE, which...

On the Fence after watching Mach E's thermal system nightmare

Good synopsis. We do the same, usually leaving a large buffer in the "tank" to reach a backup DCFC, just in case. Which means I'd usually driving in the 30-80% SOC area. Most of my DCFCs simply charge 80%, not what any trip planner says to barely reach the next DCFC with just 10%, praying...

On the Fence after watching Mach E's thermal system nightmare

This. In 47,000 miles (mostly of those long road trips), I've never had any issue with the cooling system. Does it add a few more pounds to the car than it needs to? Yep. Did it add a little more $$ to the cost of the car to build? Sure. Did I end up paying a little more in purchase price...
