If you're considering a Mach-e GT, I would test drive the Performance Edition too. It's got Magnaride which people say is much better.
I love most everything about my Premium (First Edition), except the stiff suspension.
Oh I had no problem getting used to it for active driving. It's that rare emergency situation where split-second instinct takes over rather than cognitive decision-making. Granted, maybe that would also cause me to switch pedals like normal too (to slam on the brake pedal), so potentially...
This is one of the reasons I don't like 1PD. I don't know if that was the case in that example, but it was a fear of mine when initially testing out 1PD (before settling on 2PD). For 45 years it's been ingrained into me to press down to stop, not lift up. If I got used to just always using...
If one grips the wheel just above the button cluster, it can be easy for the heel of the thumb to press in and hit the button as you turn the wheel.
I haven't done it in the Mach-E, but our Bronco Sport has a similar steering wheel and my right hand heel activates the MENU button when turning...
I absolutely love the 1-touch cruise control in our Mach-E, and now hate the 2-step method Ford uses in other vehicles (like our Bronco Sport).
But I can see how the placement could lead to accidental touch when turning the wheel. Everyone grips the wheel differently.
One solution would be to...
That's what "free" creates. None of the drama would have existed it they just charged for them like any normal accessory. Those that actually needed one would have just bought one (from Ford or 3rd party), and the supply wouldn't have gotten so far behind the lower demand. But "free" means...
Tesla, in this case, since per the deal to gain access for us the Supercharger network, Tesla was the official adapter supplier.
And they ran about 6 month behind for getting production ramped up.
And that's surely the case for everyone that likes it. They've come to trust it so they can relax more and not be as ready to react in a split-second.
That's precisely what bothers me. I don't want to slow down my reaction time. There's no way to avoid it as it's just simple human nature...
Same here. Fortunately they're so used to the dance now too that they rarely push back. And I do it via chat now so I don't have to talk to someone. I just tell them I want my same $5.99 rate for another year and they extend me without the back-and-forth. (Probably because they see I'm a...
To me it's a Catch-22. If I let my guard down a whole bunch, it would be less stressful. But then I wouldn't be watching the road constantly, and on edge ready to step in at any split second when it screws up to keep from killing us (or the people in the car next to me) at 80 MPH. That's the...
Yep. I still think self-steering in personal cars is mostly a party trick rather than something truly useful. I've found it *more* stressful to use than simply steering myself.
But even party tricks are worth something. 😎
I initially kept my adapter (J1772 at first) in the rear under the cargo floor, but I quickly realized that didn't work well. The only time I need an adapter is on a road trip. With luggage. First time I used it I had to unload all the luggage to get to it. Oops. Goes in the frunk now.
They were still testing the adapters right up until late February. That's when they flipped the station switch and sent a select group of public testers adapters (that had to be returned after the test period) to do public broader testing with the obligation to report back any issues. I can...
I don't, because they can (and did, and are still doing) keeping some V3 stations off the adapter-capable list. Any station they don't want CCS drivers using they can simply exclude with one click.
And more importantly, what it was when they unplugged. They're probably just not aware that it slows way down above 80%, where most people unplug when using a DCFC station (for that very reason).
It's probably not "replace", but rather just 2 different versions of the commercial targeted to each audience. They probably only wanted one EV in each shot, but want to show both.
It's sturdy. Doesn't really need a case that would just add bulk. But I do keep mine in a ziplock bag just to keep it clean though, and throw it in the frunk between road trips.
When I'm on a road trip where I need to use it, I take it out of the bag and place it in the door, or the lower...
Most SC stations don't require sideways parking, but it is tight. Gotta pull within inches of the charger to reach if pulling straight in. They've removed most of the parking blocks and bollards on eligible stations, but some still have a full curb.
If you're looking in the Tesla app, make sure you select YES in "Do you have a NACS DC Adapter?". (Menu >> Charging >> Vehicle Details). If that's set to NO, you'll only see MagicDock stations. YES means you'll see both MD and adapter-capable stations.
I like the Tesla webpage map better.
Telluride and Alamosa look like your closest adapter-capable Superchargers.
