What Trump order means for EV infrastructure (not political) [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

So, I sent this to a friend of mine who has very strong political views that are diametrically opposed to mine (but heā€™s honestly a great guy!) he had an interesting take on this: he pointed out that the EO was addressing and defining the raw sources of energy and not the technologies to produce...

2025 Mach-E Heat Pump Technical Info

No! Thatā€™s heresy! Iā€™m going to report your slanderous accusations to ā€œbig heat pumpā€! Everyone knows that heat pumps are a perfect, flawless technology that perfectly controls the temperature, regardless of climate or other external factors, without consuming a pico-joule of energy! Iā€™ve also...

What Trump order means for EV infrastructure (not political) [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

KLM no longer operates the 747 (not sure if KLM Asia still has 747s).

2025 Mach-E Heat Pump Technical Info

The space occupied by the original frunk should have been blocked out as unavailable during the design of the heat pump system. Somehow they were able to design it so that they didnā€™t impinge on the HVB, motors, LVB, various fluid containers, and suspension components. Why was the frunk volume...

What Trump order means for EV infrastructure (not political) [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

I think everyone knew that there would be significant changes in US policy with the new administration. Nothing really noteworthy here.

    Won’t be buying another Mach-e

Itā€™s definitely not the vehicle for you. You should unload it ASAP and purchase a vehicle made by another company. It sounds like youā€™re interested in Rivian. Iā€™d recommend going and checking out the Rivian forums. Best of luck with your next car.

Worried about Ford EV's moving forward

So, Ford did have a very good leader then - Alan Mullally (spelling?) who came from Boeing. Ford was also very lucky too - just BEFORE the financial meltdown in 2008, Ford arranged some huge credit facilities, putting everything on the line as collateral, including the Ford trademark. Hence...

2025 Mach-E Heat Pump Technical Info

My other hesitation is that itā€™s front-load. I prefer top-load washing machines

2025 Mach-E Heat Pump Technical Info

The ā€œocta-valveā€ is a genuinely clever bit of engineering which simplifies the overall temperature control system. Thereā€™s a video about it somewhere.

The only thing Tesla has over Mach-E

Oh wow. I did not know that. Thanks for sharing.

The only thing Tesla has over Mach-E

Iā€™ll take Mexico any day of the week. A nice chance to work on my Spanish (I find Mexican Spanish to be easier than many others).

The only thing Tesla has over Mach-E

My ONLY hesitation about Lucid is that theyā€™re owned by the Saudis. First, why should I pay them for a car when I donā€™t even want to buy oil from them. Second, I have serious moral issues with them.

The only thing Tesla has over Mach-E

I must have misunderstood you when you said: I interpreted that to mean that you were saying that Teslaā€™s LVBs could never be discharged to the point that they could no longer provide any useful energy (which to me, made no sense šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø).

The only thing Tesla has over Mach-E

Sighā€¦ I know. Iā€™m a loser because I donā€™t believe in the divinity of St. Elmo. Iā€™ll be condemned to Hell (which I assume is Mexico) or something šŸ˜€

The only thing Tesla has over Mach-E

So, if the BMS stops using the 12V battery when it dies, how is the BMS powered? Donā€™t Teslas also have contactors that would have to be engaged to leverage the HVB? If so, how do they power the contactors (and the modules that control them) without power?

Door plungers removed on 2024 models?

There was at least one individual who was claiming that Ford should be held criminally liable for the failure mode. Yes, Ford does things to take out cost, and I have no problem calling them out on those decisions. I can only say that none of the Ford employees Iā€™ve known went to work each...

The only thing Tesla has over Mach-E

why? What is ā€œmagicalā€ about a LiIon battery that prevents it from ever draining? Yes, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I find Teslaā€™s styling to be ugly and bland (including the refreshed models) but thatā€™s me.
