OTA Mach-E DC Fast Charging speed and threshold increases coming this winter

Good lord Frankie give it up. This is huge news for more people than trap speeds, and Kyle is one of the best in the business by far. Even if Kyle were to ask there’s no way they’d say anything, there’s an embargo until Mid-October as reported by Mike Levine on Twitter. There’s going to be...

EV6 Launch, Ionic 5 Drive, Polestar 2 Vs MME

Yeah totally agreed on aggressive/conservative. Back to my point about trade offs. Heat the battery to get max current into it as quickly as possible Vs. longevity. Also agreed that time will only tell. It’s also a fair point about Fords experience in the space. But these packs, while...

EV6 Launch, Ionic 5 Drive, Polestar 2 Vs MME

That’s not exactly what the post suggests. It‘s suggesting a thermal curve rather than a curve that is solely based on SOC. The Taycan does this really well, where it actually gets the battery red hot to receive maximum current for as long as possible (you can program the nav to precondition the...

EV6 Launch, Ionic 5 Drive, Polestar 2 Vs MME

Doh, struck once again by the awful Audi EV naming conventions. You’re right, I apologize.

EV6 Launch, Ionic 5 Drive, Polestar 2 Vs MME

Source on this? Curious to read more. Could be a good indicator on if/how Ford could unlock more via software (If that’s the route VW is going). As Out of Spec motoring has showed, it’s really less about the peak charging rate supported, but what the pack can sustain over a longer period of...

EV6 Launch, Ionic 5 Drive, Polestar 2 Vs MME

I don’t think the giant buffer is as impactful as the 800V architecture, which the E-Tron is also built on. ID4 is still 400V with meaningful buffers and likely a more realistic target. Anything that compares 800V to 400V is going to be tough as there‘s an inherent benefit to being able to...

EV6 Launch, Ionic 5 Drive, Polestar 2 Vs MME

Man oh man…. That’s a massive, huge difference. Crazy. Here’s to hoping that the curve can at least be improved via software. Obviously we’re not going to get close to 800V architecture, but we need to be as good if not better than ID4. We have so much buffer on the high and low end that they...

    240v Charging Issues

Setting the Amperage on the EVSE indicates what the breaker value is. Units are programed to only pull 80% continuous of the maximum circuit Amps. So 60 * .8 = 48A (The max the car can receive) and 50 * .8 = 40A, below the cars' maximum and well below the maximum continuous draw the circuit can...

MachE GT test drive + canceled order available in CLT, NC

Sorry, ActiveX, Ford's vegan leather. I will update the OP accordingly. FWIW, I think ActiveX feels pretty good and consider it a leather-equivalent. My original point still holds true... There's too much Miko and not enough ActiveX for my preference.

MachE GT test drive + canceled order available in CLT, NC

While I agree in principle, I do think it's overkill to make the car sound like an 18-wheeler backing up. Recent Toyota Hybrids (RAV4 and Highlanders in particular) are loud and definitely noticeable but a bit more tasteful than the BEEP-BEEP-BEEP that's synonymous with larger trucks.

My First Mach-E GT & BlueCruise Road Trip Impressions

Awesome write up, thanks for taking the time! Making me more excited for my GT to come late in Q4. We’re with you, I think the wheels are great!

MachE GT test drive + canceled order available in CLT, NC

I told myself that I would never buy another car without cooled seats, but ultimately decided to make an exception for the mach E. Glad to hear your seats have held up!

MachE GT test drive + canceled order available in CLT, NC

I’m waiting on my GT Order to come in through Town & Country Ford here in Charlotte. I’ve been working with Chris, and he let me know they had a canceled order come available if I wanted to cut the line. My wife and I went down there this evening to test drive the GT and see if it was the car...

Mach-E will not be selected for scheduling next week (of 9/13)

Got it. So those already scheduled are fine, but those looking at ordering next week (or have already ordered but not yet been assigned) will not be assigned a production date?

Mach-E will not be selected for scheduling next week (of 9/13)

How do you read "no scheduling"? Other models have production weeks into October, and my current build week is 10/11.

Crazy Repair Cost after minor incident

That's one hell of a dent and must've been an incredible collision. Agreed that this likely smushed the cooling trays beneath the batteries, but doubt there is any more serious damage to other components. Like others have said, this early on in HV systems it's unlikely that Ford wants any...

UPDATE: My build date was just pushed back a week to 10/11. Sad :(

Dealer near Charlotte/Cornelius that is certified to repair Mach-E?

I have an order currently in for my GT at Town & Country Ford on Independence Blvd. Spoke to them today and they said they have 5-6 of them on order. That's pretty meaningful volume for a single dealer IMO so you may want to try them.
