Yeah, I get that. I‘ve had my Mach-E since April and have around 4000 miles on it so far. Never used the fob. Issue free?.. No. But nothing so bad that it’s frustrating or annoying.
The good news is you’ll be making someone very happy finding a slightly used Mach-E for sale!
I'll have to pay more attention to mine next time I wash it and double check how far it opens. Pretty sure it opens fully due to the fact that it almost smacks me in the face each time I'm down there washing the bumper!
I can tell you mine fully opens when wet. Whenever I wash the black piece with the backup light under the bumper, I accidentally trigger the kick motion sensor and it pops open. Kind of annoying, but it does open!
(Edit: Oops! Just noticed the topic said Android users.)
I’ve had my Mach-E since April, and only had the fob with me on the way home from the dealership. I’ve used PAAK ever since. Sometimes it’s slow, but has never stranded me or caused me to be angry at it. I’m using it on an iPhone 12...
I'd be curious if this is a Ford only thing, or how today's cars work in general?
Anyone on the forum able to test this theory with non Ford vehicles? Start your vehicle with your fob in hand, keep it running and move the fob out of range - then see if you can take your vehicle out of Park.
The fob does the same thing being out of range, having bad or dead fob battery. In fact, I just tried it with my 2018 Expedition as well. I started the truck, jumped out and moved my fob out of range. Got back in the truck: “No Key Detected” and couldn’t move it out of park.
I don’t know… I would rather it authenticate exactly at that moment, so it knows it’s actually me and not someone who jumped in and took off with the car.
It’s inconvenient when PAAK isnt working, and it needs to be addressed to avoid this in the future.
Not sure why your phone wasn’t detected, but stuck in park with no key detected makes sense. Wouldn’t that be the same with key fobs as well? No key, no moving the car? Otherwise if you stepped out of the car while it was still on, anyone could jump in and take off.
Where in your Mach E...
