Hummer EV the champ at DCFC charging rate(s)?

I don't see how that means that we know what the charging curve will look like. We know that it should be deep compared to a 400 volt system. But I don't think we have any level of detail.

The truth about Electrify America's progress and Traveling with the Mach E

If somebody moves into an apartment complex with no parking, then they plan to use public transport. So that seems like a reasonable exception. In general: "Bob Raymer of the California Building Industry Association says that the new standards are likely to be picked up quickly since homeowner...

The truth about Electrify America's progress and Traveling with the Mach E

Correct. But California and some other states are requiring it. More states and builders will follow. Companies are also popping up that install chargers on existing lines using batteries and timing solutions.

GMC Hummer EV Reveal Happens at 8pm EDT tonight

I think GM just decided that it wasn't worth it to put out battery electric vehicles unless they were in complete control of the powertrain, and could come close to matching Tesla in range and efficiency. They also knew that BEVs weren't going to be immediately profitable. So they had time. Just...

Hummer EV the champ at DCFC charging rate(s)?

They definitely said 350 KW. I don't think we'll know the charging curve for a long time.

The truth about Electrify America's progress and Traveling with the Mach E

I'm also cool with L2 or 25kw chargers at places like malls and grocery stores. People go there for one hour in the case of grocery stores, or two or three hours in the case of malls. For many people that's like three or four days worth of driving.

The truth about Electrify America's progress and Traveling with the Mach E

I'd leave the cities to charge point, etc. EA has a finite amount of money. Cities will take care of themselves.

    Ford Range Increase Coming?

Does that mean that you could start driving and only have (from instrument panel) 50 mi of range, but as your battery gets warmer it could actually increase as you drive?

The truth about Electrify America's progress and Traveling with the Mach E

I really wish that GM and FCA were coming out with higher volume BEVs at roughly the same time as the Mach E. That would dramatically ramp up charger installation growth if all three (formerly) domestic owned producers were coming out with simultaneous offerings. Utilities and gas stations...

    Ford Range Increase Coming?

It doesn't matter what Ford releases as it's range for the first year or two because they will sell out regardless. If Tesla keeps repeatedly lowering prices, Ford will be forced to keep pace.

    Ford Range Increase Coming?

I do want to use the real world test. That's been my point all along that they are much better than the EPA method. I don't have a question. and there is no adjustment necessary for the driver. Driving at a steady state is the same for everybody.

    Ford Range Increase Coming?

Rare. I may slow down to 70 or 65. But the vast majority of my trip is done at the speed I set on my cruise control.

Interstates always have at least two lanes. When I'm gaining on a vehicle, I change lanes.

    Ford Range Increase Coming?

It is actually. Have you watched their videos? Plus, I do it all the time. You think they're using camera tricks? You think I'm lying about my drive? Have you ever driven from Wichita to Denver?

    Ford Range Increase Coming?

okay. So we've determined that it's impossible to design a test that accurately reflects your typical drive. It is certainly possible to design one that reflects my typical drive, since I set the cruise control and forget about it. Looks like that's what they should do. Just like they do on...

    Ford Range Increase Coming?

How do you design a scientific test that incorporates two car wrecks that cause you to slow down to zero miles an hour on the interstate? And even with all of that, your average speed was 68.

Rural: Driving from one metropolitan area to another. I drove from the Wichita area to the Denver area.
