    Ford Range Increase Coming?

Yes, but you’re more likely to see that if the outside temp goes up while you drive.

    Ford Range Increase Coming?

The winter drop-off in my Kona EV (w/o heat pump) here in New England is closer to 30%. New BEV owners in colder climates will be upset by the winter drop-off but it’s just a fact of BEV life that you have to accept. It’s really only impacted me when doing a winter road trip where I needed to...

    Ford Range Increase Coming?

Over the past 14 months, I’ve found the ABRP estimates to be very accurate as long as you select the right vehicle and accurately set your starting temperature. For those that don’t know, the ABRP site factors in vehicle power use rate, average speed, changes in elevation, and weather. It’s...

    Ford Range Increase Coming?

The first few weeks of EV ownership are a bit awkward because you have to start changing your mindset and thinking about car “fueling” in a very different way. Up until now, we’ve only known the ICE-gas station paradigm our whole lives. But then, managing your EV’s charge suddenly becomes...

    Ford Range Increase Coming?

It’s part of the EV maturity curve. Tesla had the same thing 4-5 years ago.

Preparing for Mach-E charging at home - preparation and installing charger

According to this install guide, it has 2 wiring configurations: - 3-wire where the wire comes straight into the charger box - 4-wire into a junction box (then the charger covers the junction box) which allows a future change out to a 14-60 outlet...

Ford will be bankrupt in less than 4 years

I don’t disagree that competitors are lacking on the software side. But, the competition is focusing on what matters to the majority of people: overall build quality, good customer service, immersive drive experiences. Software-only isn’t going to cut it for most people.

    Questionable Tesla Assertions

A couple things I’ve learned in my 44 years on this planet: - Business school rules tend to hold up. Among those are “If something isn’t a core competency for your company, then outsource it”. From where I sit, Tesla is a company that doesn’t know what it wants to be when it grows up. Vertical...

Active Drive Assist will cost $1,400 (says Autoline Daily)

I’m glad you’re enjoying your MY! It’s true: once you drive an EV, you can never go back to driving an ICE car. Personally, I can’t bring myself to pay the $8000 R&D tax that paying for FSD is, seeing as how it seems to still be elusive vapor ware. I’d rather pay a premium to add the hardware...

What will be your first song? Playlist?

    For me, it’s: - “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC - “Don’t” by Zoe Kravitz

Ford.com "Reservations & Orders" no longer shows my order

I logged into the Ford.com site this morning only to discover that it no longer lists my accepted order for a Premium RWD MME. When I click on "View now" or "View history" it just takes me to the MME page when I can start the ordering process all over again. Is anyone getting this as well?

Is the Mach-E really 7 years behind Tesla?

Nope. I got the Ultimate fully optioned and it still didn’t have the heat pump.

Is the Mach-E really 7 years behind Tesla?

The heat pump is only included on Kona’s shipped to Canada. I would have liked one seeing as how I’m in New England. 🥶

    Shopping for a Home Charger

I only uncoil as much as I need to charge. The cord does get a bit warm while charging but not dangerously so. If it did, they would have used a heavier gauge cable.

Another way the Mach-E is behind Tesla

It's pretty awful how Tesla treated Rich. They had the opportunity to work with him as someone who was passionate about their product which would have likely fueled a lot more sales as Rich's videos are fun to watch. Instead, they made the poor guy a pariah and turned him away from anything to...

    Shopping for a Home Charger

I bought a JuiceBox 40 about a year ago. I like that it is not hardwired and has a 14-50 plug on it. It delivers up to 40A of juice which is more than my current car can use (it tops out at 30A), but I wanted to future-proof a bit. What I really like about it is: It's very solidly built. I...

    Shopping for a Home Charger

It's future-proofing. But... I'm not sure it's worth it if that requires a major rework of your electrical panel to accommodate such a high-load device.

    Shopping for a Home Charger

I paid about $300 for 60' of 6/3 wire, electrical box, 14-50 outlet, and flex metal conduit. I did the job myself to save cash.
