    Mach-E EPA Ratings Revealed in Window Sticker!

    interesting; I guess I was fooled by the “foot off the accelerator” trigger, because you still see the regenerative level displayed when pressing the It’s a little odd, they certainly could trigger regen using the pedal, the sensor is there to display the brake lights and is passed along the...

    Probably; like Tesla, Audi, etc the brake pedal will likely engage the regenerative system up to some limit after which the friction brakes will join. There would be little reason to do it otherwise.

    I'll have to take a look. I've never read the manual cover to cover, I just searched it for things I was curious about

    Interesting; it was certainly transparent to me (never heard of this before)!

    Yah, often times I only touch it when I start the car, because it’s required. Otherwise I can judge pretty well and stop without it almost exclusively.

    I think that part should be worded better. It makes it seem like there is something about charging to 90% which improves the longevity.

    Mainstream = 1000-1000

    Don’t touch the third rail!

    It's the longest-range non-Tesla electric car on the market right now.

    The line must be drawn here...

    Yes, the systems which maintain battery temperature certainly affect range as well. Maintaining cabin temperature I would categorize with driving style.

    Mach-E EPA Ratings Revealed in Window Sticker!

    "Actual" range is an interesting concept. What defines it? For a given car, it's a function of initial state of charge, driving style, and, importantly, the route taken. That is why for the sake of comparison, standard "routes" are taken. Tests wherein a bunch of cars are driven along the same...

    Mainstream = 1000-1000

    Agreed. Even the aforementioned 450 miles is likely more than necessary in most situations. Critical mass on EV adoption at this point is a function of price. Slowly, people are getting past the common preconceived notions and starting to understand how much more convenient EVs are than ICEVs...

    I’ve never seen anyone use the right and wrong ‘its’ directly adjacent each other like that 😂

    Lane Centering and Hands Free Driving

    I don't know whether or not is has to do with centering per se, but yes the autopilot system must be calibrated. When they change lanes and make turns, the path they take often looks a 1/2 critically damped oscillation (sorry to nerd it up this early), not a single turn.

    Mainstream = 1000-1000

    I see. Perhaps that would get it down to the longest range ICE cars (~700 miles). As for the time frame, I think the range milestone is achievable in 10 years, but not the cost bogey. These vehicles be mainstream before production costs come down that much.

    Mainstream = 1000-1000

    Why do you think it takes a 1000 mile range to be mainstream? What mainstream ICE vehicles have 1000 mile ranges?

    Probably that the state of the art is still evolving.

    I pace looks good... for an SUV. Etron is boring.

    It’s not so much a matter of power as it is total energy. You can charge a li-ion battery beyond the “maximum” voltage if the BMS allows it, which is why some devices without sophisticated BMS ship with instructions to plug in for a given period of time.

    It's possible ford will allow regen to charge the battery beyond 100%, which would mean exceeding the maximum designed electric potential (aka "voltage")of the cells. It's unlikely, but it's possible.

    Say what? Lithium ion technology is closer to 35 years old than 10.
