Unpopular opinion (FYI - I have owned a Mach-E and now own a Model Y); I think Tesla's dominance will remain for a long period of time.
They're currently the global leader in BEV sales (BYD does not lead in true BEV sales, they report their "electric" car sales numbers inlcuding PHEV's). Their...
I've owned a premium MME and have a Y (RWD - Europe spec) now. Even if they were priced similarly, the Y (in my opinion) is a much better car all round. Now that it is more than 15K cheaper for a similar spec in most markets, I can't see how Ford and many other automakers are going to sell EV's...
Unfortunately, I have to say NO. I've owned the MME (AWD SR) for almost a year and sold it to buy a Model Y RWD (only available outside of the US).
Main reason to switch to a Model Y is software. My personal opinion is that Ford's Sync is just not good enough for a car that expensive. It's...
I'm excited for the UI refresh and hoping that performance will improve with it. The UI is OK-ish to me, but looks a bit outdated in places, if you ask me. A more modern UI design language would be nice and easier navigation for some elements (HVAC, heated seats, charge limit control).
Bring...
Agreed that the overall speed and UI design is much behind compared to Tesla, Polestar and other premium brands. I'm hoping Ford will work on this, but I'm neither hopeful that the Android Automotive based system will get loaded on existing Mach-E's.
It's shitty when people get in your car and...
I'm 6'6" and fit in mine without the pano roof just fine. I even have the seat jacked up a bit, as I like the higher driving position. Not having an issue with my knee hitting the screen. The only true downside in terms of seating comfort is the lack of thigh support. The seat base is way too...
Thanks guys! That'd be awesome. I think they created a pretty nice system, but some better performance would make it so much better. Appreciate your response!
As said in the video, the interface seems much snappier and smoother than in the MME. You guys thing we can expect something similar through OTA, or you think it is because of better hardware?
Wow, VW is cutting down their 5-80% load time by 9 minutes?! That really matters when going on a long road trip where you're doing 10-12 charges round trip. Saves a good 2 hours of waiting. That is what I hope to see most with these future updates (next to improved UI speed and added...
Same here. We're nearing the $10 mark per gallon for unleaded fuel here in the Netherlands. Owning an EV is a good thing, especially since I don't expect the Russia situation to settle soon and thus oil prices to be pushed even higher.
Also avoids having to drive a 3-cylinder car like everyone...
I have the same experience. My GOM is literally like 95% accurate.
I agree with most here; range in winter (even in mild Dutch winter - around freezing point) takes a big hit. It reduces range quite significantly. I need to admit I have the heat running all the time, as I don't want to...
I was playing around with the somewhat squeaky volume knob today and I noticed that pushing it in actually has a function! If you push it in for a second or two, the screen goes into this minimalist mode. I had not read about this anywhere yet, so apologies if this is commonly known already...
That makes sense. I am by no means a battery expert, but how do Tesla and others achieve 200+ kW and better sustained charging with similar size battery packs? Just getting my hopes up for better charge speed in the future :)
That sounds encouraging! I totally get that Ford plays it safe, but hope they'll give us some good updates as their cars out in the field prove to be doing all right with little warranty claims.
I have a Standard Range Premium which is able to DC charge at a rate of max. 115kW for a short period of time. Overall I think that the 10-80% charge speed is a bit sluggish with more than 40 minutes to complete.
Do you guys think Ford will be pushing OTA to improve charge speed in the future...
No. At least over here in the Netherlands they don't. You may get it with the Premium when you have the extended range battery, but I'm not sure about that.
Definitely loving my Premium SR AWD. I was lucky to buy one off the lot and get behind the weel in 3 weeks (Netherlands).
The one I got is a DMG without any additional packages. Would have loved to have the B&O sound system, as the base audio system is average at its best. Though to be fair...
