I agree with you. I had no idea I'd have to pay $200/year for BC. It was a real selling feature for me, because I drive 150 miles a day in my commute, and the dealership salespeople talked about it a lot, without ever mentioning that I'd have to pay. Do we have any recourse?

Yes you can just use the lane centering, but you have to turn off the adaptive cruise control. If you have adaptive cruise on, the BC kicks in. (I think this is true. Tomorrow I'll see if there's a switch to just turn off BC.)
