I have three Ford EVs (two MMEs and a Lightning), so have three free adapters on order. But they won’t be delivered until August.
We travel a lot and fast-charge frequently. I’ve got an A2Z adapter on order so we can use the Supercharger network in the meantime. When we owned a Tesla, we found...
Yes, my Powerwalls allow me to "load shed" and rely only on battery storage to power my home during peak grid pricing. In my case, that's every day from 3 pm to midnight, so I program my Powerwalls to take over and power my home when rates are highest. This feature makes battery storage...
Interesting, thanks for your insight. This seems like an entirely solvable problem. Perhaps state legislatures can help grease the skids for increased solar power installations and interconnection, as they've done here in California.
Here, Tesla operates a "Virtual Power Plant" where more than...
California and Florida have innovative loan programs that make it possible for homeowners to install rooftop solar and backup batteries for zero out-of-pocket. That, together with the 30% renewable energy tax credit, makes it a no-brainer.
In the summer, I can charge my EVs and remain off grid...
Cryptocurrency mining and trading is essentially a form of gambling. We know gambling is far more addictive than electric vehicles, so it makes sense society would devote more resources to the former!
Amid Explosive Demand, Amercia is Running out of Power
Interestingly, the article mentions EVs only in passing. It blames the growth in data centers and cryptocurrency mining for most of the increase in demand for gigawatts of electrical power.
Gosh, you never miss an opportunity to be critical, do you?! If you look online, there are many articles like the one below suggesting that BMW is making a switch.

In an...
This week brought news that BMW, GM, and Honda are "abandoning" EVs and exploring the potential for vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells. But will they really be a viable alternative to EVs? I'm skeptical...
Here's why: There are at least four problems with hydrogen-powered vehicles...
Here’s the Apple support site that talks about how they guard against unwanted tracking. Enjoy!
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212227#:~:text=AirTag, AirPods, and other Find, does not belong to you.
My understanding of how AirTags work is they notify any iPhone user that they’re being tracked. Apple didn’t make AirTags to track people, and for liability reasons the AirTag will notify any iPhone that’s in proximity for a certain period of time.
This wasn’t a robbery. Robbery is a crime against a person. Burglary is a crime against property and what happened here.
Police agencies always focus more resources on crimes against people than property crimes. As they should!
There's more to tire wear than tread depth!
Because the OEM Pirelli's are summer max performance tires, I don't believe they come with any treadwear warranty.
Thanks! I definitely try not to drive my GTPE so that it puts my driver's license at risk. But I'll admit to occasionally showing ICE muscle cars who's the real boss of the road!
Given that I don't drive it like I stole it, perhaps I'll just switch to all-season tires that I don't have to...
Because I know that not all Pirellis (or Michelins) are created equal!
If we condemn entire brands simply because we don’t like one of their tires, we wouldn’t have much rubber left to choose from.
Read the reviews of tires like the Pirelli All Season Plus ELECT and the Pirelli PZero E, both...
The OEM Pirelli's on my 2022 GTPE have 21,500 miles in service. I've rotated them every 10,000 miles religiously.
Check out the tread wear patterns in these photographs. Do you think they're done? Should I replace them right away?
Frankly, I'm hoping they'll last until Pirelli releases its new...
My wife encountered rental car EV drivers recently. She was charging her Mach-E on a Level 2 charger at a hotel near SFO airport. Three Asian visitors showed up in a rental Tesla with about 5 miles range left. They had no clue about range or charging and just happened to see the hotel chargers...
You can’t take Hertz’s experience as indicative of any trends. First, they sell their entire rental car fleet every couple of years anyway, so that’s normal.
Second, people with no experience in EVs don’t rent EVs! Why would they? They know nothing about charging, range, etc. so I’m not...
Did you rotate your Pirellis at 10,000 miles per the manual? I do that religiously and have managed to extend the life of my OEM tires on the GTPE to 20,000 miles. But they will need replacing soon… 20K is about all you can expect from a performance summer tire.
Welcome to the club! You won't regret making the change. My top recommendation would be to install a Level 2 charger in your garage so that you can charge mostly at home and avoid the aggravation of public charging unless you're on a road trip!
