I noticed the same thing. However, when I looked at my Juicebox app, it didn't show any KwH flowing and the charging light on the juicebox wasn't flashing. I assume it's an error in Fordpass.
I’m at the airport in Portland, flying home ti SLC where it’s been snowing. If I set a departure time of 4 pm, is that set at the time zone/location of the car or that of where I am/my phone (Portland)?
Thanks for the trip report. I've lived in Utah for 17 years and finally made it to the Moab area last year. Lots to see and due. To get to Moab, I come from SLC and the non-Tesla charging options are pretty sparce. If one were out of service, I'd be stuck. I was curious how your Ford NAV...
This is a good point. Our power utility (of which I'm an employee) here in Utah had an EV car show. As you would expect, the majority of the vehicles entered in the car show were Teslas and Rivians...I was the only Mache. The attendees were employees and community members, the mayor, and a...
This. We can debate car play and heat pumps. But when Tesla has a significant economic advantage (lower prices) and lacks the threat and cost of UAW, they will continue to lead the market.
We had a similar, but much less costly, contract renewal between our power company and the line workers union. Significant raises were given and prices are going up for customers.
The UAW needs to be careful because if labor costs go too high, 1) auto makers will locate the work elsewhere...
Yes, I would happily pay 20% more if I knew it would be available and reliable. Most of us don't use superchargers that frequently (I've only done it 4 times in almost a year), so I'm happy to pay more for those few times I need it. Otherwise, I'll drive my ICE because I can't rely on the...
I wondered this same thing. However, I imagine 40 chargers cost a lot more in capital and O&M/power than 40 pumps at a gas station...at least until they can assure that at least 38 chargers are working at a given time. Gas stations pumps seem much more reliable.
Agreed. KwH rates will need to be significantly higher to cover the capital and O&M. The volume of customers will be low due to the 30 minutes per charge. However, 40 is a lot of units and if car charging rates continue to improve, maybe the economics pan out in the future. Maybe it will...
I'm surprised states haven't subsidized the power for EV charging through customer rates - like what was done for solar initially in many states. As an EV owner, I'm not advocating this. In reality the fast-charging rates should be much higher. I'm not a big fan of the gov't throwing billions...
I'd be curious the number of failures for those manufactured after the ~June 2022 "fixed" date. I would hope it's an improved rate, but I see many post June 2022 that also have the failure.
I will first note that I'm a CPA and no very little about this...but was just curious if your house panel is sufficient? I've been nervous about charging my car while the AC and dryer are running - though maybe the home panel would trip if too much juice was pulling at once?
Yes, In Utah we have 80 MPH for a good part of the interstate. I definitely noticed a massive hit in range driving 80-85...combined with the hills/mountains. The ford navigation did a poor job anticipating this when it recommended upcoming charging stations for my route.
I just got back from my first road trip - 80-85 MPH up and down mountains in central Utah @ 100 degrees + Vegas driving where it was 110+. While I got a strange "battery drained, SSN" message that cleared itself, no HVBJB issues...hopefully that means I should be OK in "normal" driving...
I can't blame you, I would have made the same decision given the current pricing...I bought a GT because at the time it qualified for the full tax credit and the Tesla did not...the M3P now qualifies?
I am curious how you can spot an M3P while on the road - the badging is non-existant...to know...
Your team needs to be aware of the latest tax credits
I recently had to educate the General Manager of my local dealership about forms the dealership is required to provide to the IRS & buyer at the time of sale
He was basing his knowledge on last year's tax situation
Things change too...
The best option is to install charging stations near existing convenience stores/gas stations. That was the case on my last trip - both EA stations were within a 100 yard walk of a gas station and Wendy's/DQ. Agreed - foot traffic from charging stations in most locations is not sufficient to...
By 7,200 miles, it must have been a round trip....trip. Unless you are counting your "drive" to Hawaii?
How did you find the range held up in those 80 MPH interstates?
As others have said, you can charge as you wish. Depending on your state (speed limit) and wind conditions, you should get all the charge that you can (up to 80%) if you are unsure. I found/learned that my range was not very close to what the car originally estimated. I live in a state where...
