Although mine came to Canada, it sat in a rail yard after unloading for more than 3 weeks before an auto hauler got the car to the dealer. It took as much time sitting in a lot as it took the car to make it from the factory to My location in Canada. This was frankly the worst part of the entire...
After 3+ excruciatingly long weeks of it sitting on a lot after coming off the train, the day has finally come! Pickup is tomorrow! Never have I been so excited to pay so much for a car in all my life!
Had a similar experience up here in Canada. We were offered $6k less by our Ford dealer than what was offered by Canada Drives (similar to Carvana and Carmax). Canada Drives took our car, paid the high end of the KBB number and we had an EFT with the funds in our account in a short period of...
I got mine through the Ford.com website. That said, in the past few weeks, they’ve also put themselves behind a geofence blocking non US access. Your dealer however should also be able to see it via the Vehicle Visibility Report.
Ditto…. Now at 14 days and counting since it made it to its final rail destination and awaiting loading onto a transporter to come the final 30km to the dealership. Sigh!
You would think that but don’t be too certain. My car arrived at the rail yard and was offloaded a week ago Monday. It’s been sitting there since. Ford had updated our delivery to yesterday but then pushed it by another week to next Wednesday on the outside of the date range. The car literally...
We’re you told the railcar is on the CPR network or on Norfolk? If it’s assigned to Norfolk, you need to track it via their tracking. If CPR, you can use the above. I would assume however that coming north, you’re already on CPR coming out of KC.
That’s awesome news! I’m in a similar boat. My original delivery window was 08/08-08/15. As of yesterday it was updated to today through 07/26. It came off of the train this past Saturday and is awaiting an auto hauler to get it to my dealership about 30 mins away.
Yup. It’s a CPR rail car. Reflects as being at the St Croix junction as of this morning (which is just outside of Minneapolis) on its way north toward the border.
Was your dealer in the VVR able to see an update to the railcar info (so after KCS) or same for Ford chat? Based on what I've seen, KCS only carries the car as far as KC and from there it gets transferred to other rail carriers or auto transport for movements to other parts of the country.
Tracking on KCS is non-existent and takes about 10 days to hit KC once underway from the factory (including time at the border for CBP to clear the shipments) - mine sat in a siding at the factory for a few days once loaded on a rail car. Once the vehicle hits KC and is off loaded (hits...
I had this same experience with tracking albeit with Canadian Pacific. The VVR still shows the vehicle in KC while CPR shows the car having left Chicago for Detroit.
Be patient is my best advice (assuming that you haven't already gotten notification that it's arrived in Toronto). When I was first provided my CPR railcar info, it took a bit for it to reflect that it was on the northbound leg vs. southbound (likely what you saw on the departure). You can...
Once, you have the railcar number, tracking with CPR is easy via their automated telephone service. Kinda fun to follow along and learn about where the train and car have stopped along the way, just wish it was a little faster.
Yes, trains on CPR head East through Detroit/Windsor largely and those that go West have a few options but if transferred directly to CPR at KC, it's likely routing through either Winnipeg or there's another border cross point in Saskatchewan. Both lines eventually junction at Moose Jaw. If I...
The train as of this morning is sitting in Davenport, Iowa in the CPR yard there. It’s the halfway point to Chicago I’m hoping it doesn’t sit there too long.
Heard back from the dealer this afternoon and he had the same info as did Ford corporate. That said, CPR now reflects the train as on the move having departed KC this evening just after 6:15 pm. Progress. Means next major junction is Chicago on its way north through Detroit-Windsor. I expect...
