Iām not attacking EVās v. ICE. Iām attacking Fordās greed and Iām sticking up for my tax dollars, because I work for a living.
And this is not a mere perception.
I donāt think the government should be subsidizing the gazillion dollar oil and gas industry, either.
But right now, weāre talking about Ford using tax incentives to price creep a base model Ford to $50k.
Jeep prices are coming down swiftly. They overproduced.

But your overall point that auto prices have...
No one is āfightingā against the EV ārevolution.ā
The only revolution going on is you getting swindled, in a different way. Iām always amazed at how eagerly people want āfreeā stuff from their government.
Having sold many new cars in my younger days (at Ford) to get through school, Iām certain the dealers arenāt going away. Iām equally certain you arenāt actually getting a deal when the price is locked.
I have looked at the prices of new cars. We bought a new Lexus SUV for the wife last December, and it wasnāt cheap.
Even if you look at Fordās own lineup, there are plenty of other vehicles with much, much nicer offerings at $50k. I guess at that point, it comes down to how bad you want a...
I work for a living so Iām not a big fan of the government picking winners in the market space with tax incentives that ultimately just produce price creep, like everything else the government touches.
Edit: Do you think Ford/Tesla figured the tax incentive into their pricing calculation? Of...
The point you missed, is that Tesla can compete with the luxury brands in the minds of consumers at $50k, but I donāt think Ford can do that as well.
And, honestly, the Mustang name will probably drag sells, too. It cheapens and limits the EV in this exact way.
I think the numbers that will most effect the Mach-Eās success are these:
$43,895 and $36,395.
Like Tesla, Ford is using a āpotential future tax savingsā to almost arrive at the magic number $35k, which is even pretty high for most mortals.
That trick wonāt work for Ford like it does for...
Thereās that ālimited-quantity First Editionā line again. Iām not sure I want/need the First Edition . . . it probably just includes a fancy placard on the dash for collectors. Iām far from car collecting now, but I might regret it in 30 years.
Pretty sure youāre thinking of Frankfurt.
The LA Auto Show is huge for electric as well, and this year theyāre debuting more cars than ever.

Beyond the obvious fact that the Mach-E has been billed as a four-door for over two years now, what do you think this is, if not for rear doors? Sheesh.
