Huge improvement and the biggest ones come down to all of the steering and power inputs. So smooth and natural. Also, agreed that it can still mess up, I had a couple issues where I had to rip the wheel (while in hands free) so make sure to still pay attention!
It’s so good! Can’t wait for the updates to start rolling. I’m hearing software updates will start roughly Q2/Q3 from Ford but they won’t give me an exact date. Either way, what an improvement and I’d really love to take one on a trip with this software!
Mach-E with 1.2 crushed the hogback. Huge improvements, scored right at the top (would have been first if it had a couple extra safety components) but was very natural. I’m officially a blue cruise fanboy lol
video soon
Would love to hear everything you’d like me to check out!
I won’t have much time with this car as my schedule is a bit wild but I promise I’ll grab another Mach-E soon to do all the deep evaluation stuff after the software updates the car has received!
And now it’s time for the reviews of the reviews! Just to answer a couple questions - this event was intended as a “first drive” opportunity. Which essentially is an appetizer for further in-depth testing at a later date. It’s a great opportunity to share vehicle information at a high level with...
I had heard of the trap speed issue in passing but wasn’t really sure the specifics. I will be driving the GT in a couple weeks, will bring my draggy, testing for myself, and if slower than the 4X - will of course be asking questions.
Seems silly that the fast one would be slower in a straight...
I did the math after and thought to myself that damn this pack must have some serious degradation or something isn't adding up. Good to know this is a known bug. I will add it to the article!! Thank you
Kyle
I think the return trip, next week’s Out of Spec Motoring video, will be a bit more favorable to the Mustang.
1 - Almost every session without plug and charge has been great
2 - Great means it charges... it doesn’t mean it charges well (charging curve / random slow charging)
3 - P&C should...
Your average buyer wouldn’t know to not use P&C and instead activate with EA app. I’m saying if a normal person, on this software version plugs in their Mustang, based on my testing and experience, they will not be able to seamlessly charge. Imagine having the fueling pump stop over and over and...
We'll see how Ford responds with changes. Temperature plays a huge role in this. My gut feeling tells me they will be adjusting something related to the charging curve in the latest update. I definitely shared my feedback to the engineering team based on my findings during the charging testing I...
I have so much to share but need a car to finalize my thoughts on the profile - the one thing I will say is it depends totally on what SoC you plug in with, unlike any other EV I've tested. As soon as the next update hits the fleet, I should be able to have access to a Mach-E with the newest...
My colleague Tom Moloughney will have a full in-depth AC charging overview of the Mustang Mach-E tomorrow. Yes, it charges at 48amps as we know but he goes through all the at-home charging options. Keep an eye on InsideEVs
I have a full 3% to 81% DC charging curve test that I’ve done on the car I drove. I’m going to compare it with a production car in warm temperatures in Los Angeles in a couple weeks before posting the video. The charging does taper to 13kW as soon as you hit 80% and this is to protect the...
Hey all! Big day for Mustang content - I'm going to be doing a Q&A video on everything that wasn't answered in the mass amounts of videos today. I still haven't spoken much about charging curves and efficiency in my videos but this is something I will go more in-depth with later on in the week...
