Just to add to this thread in case it’s relevant later, this exact thing just happened, including the ~ 1 foot trunk opening. The trunk fully opened, completing both stages.
Overall ended up going pretty smooth.
about 15 minutes overall, mostly figuring out what I couldn’t see until I had the fins out.
Two of the fins were popped out of the actuator arm. Once I reconnected everything correctly, it was obvious how it was supposed to go.

I’ll give it a shot this weekend. I was hoping I could get them out with some flex, but I was a little concerned about going too far.
Bonus, if I get them out, I can clean the remains of the bird.
I was wondering if the not closing is actuator related. But I’ll check that out once...
How did the fins go in or out?
A bird flew into ours at speed, and now one fin is limp, and the other two don’t fully close.
I was hoping to pop them out to clean the area, then reinstall or replace, but I don’t see an obvious way to get them out with breaking them.
