  1. Mach-E vs. Model Y Drag Race

    0-60 times (based on frame counting): Model Y: 4.4s Mach-E: 5.2s Mike
  2. First Mach-E dyno test results: 375 hp / 409 ft-lbs torque

Very true. It's the area under the torque curve that matters. EVs deliver power differently and (with notable exceptions) don't lose torque to the ground by changing gears. Mike
  3. First Mach-E dyno test results: 375 hp / 409 ft-lbs torque

If they were smart, they could have set the test conditions to the SAE standard conditions so the correction factor would be 1.0. But who knows what they did? Mike
  4. Soon to be new owners - make sure you test drive your car before you buy it

I don't have a Mach-E, at least yet. So I have to ask: do you have to engage the auto-hold for it not to creep and for true 1 pedal driving? In other words, if you don't activate auto-hold, will it not come to a complete stop without putting your foot on the brake? Mike
  5. Soon to be new owners - make sure you test drive your car before you buy it

I just can't imagine many people cross-shopping the Bolt and Mach-E because they are very different. I thought I was trading my Bolt for a Mach-E last week but it (pardon the pun) really let the air out of my tires when I saw it. I love the look, interior, gadgets, everything, but once I saw...
  6. Soon to be new owners - make sure you test drive your car before you buy it

Sorry you had such a bad experience. I too own a Bolt and I'm here because I was convinced last week that I was trading it for a Mach-E. To the point I had a customer-canceled order lined up and went to the dealer to sign papers. Only two things stopped me: it cost more than I had anticipated...
  7. Will the real 0-60 please stand up?

For me, there's a 60 MPH state road right off my development. At certain times of the day, it's empty with no cars in either direction. I just verify no traffic (you can see about a mile in both directions), take a left onto the straight, stop momentarily, then go. There's also an access road...
  8. Will the real 0-60 please stand up?

I think that's a common thing. The Bolt, for example, doesn't reach its full 155kW until it hits around 40 MPH. It's a ramp-up before then: in a 0-60 run you're at less than full power for the first 3 seconds or so. Not sure if it has to do with minimizing wheelspin, reducing drivetrain...
  9. Will the real 0-60 please stand up?

True. In reality, the 0-60 times on even the lowest trim are enough to be fun! I'm so impressed with the gadgets and customization ability on the Mach-E. They really did it right... all the way down to letting you adjust the "Tolerance" of the lane keeping! Other manufacturers should take...
  10. Will the real 0-60 please stand up?

I've tested my own Bolt with my Passport G-Timer which I don't believe uses a rollout. I got 6.5s on all 5 runs I tested. Battery was at 80%. The car mags all seem to get 6.1 to 6.3 but my guess is that's with rollout and 100% battery. From what I've seen, the Bolt is probably neck and neck...
  11. Totally wonderful automobile; buy one now!

Wait... lane cenering won't work on a two way road with clear lane markings? That's mostly what I travel and I try to avoid highways. I tend to want lane centering on 60 MPH rural roads where the traffic is minimal: just to rest my hands/arms for a bit. Mike
  12. Will the real 0-60 please stand up?

Thanks. 5.2 is fast enough for me: a second quicker than the Bolt. And honestly, the Mach-E is so much nicer inside that I'd take 5.2 with all the niceness and tech of the Mach-E. The Bolt is a bit squirrely at 75 MPH on the highway: the short wheelbase makes it follow detents in the road so...
  13. Will the real 0-60 please stand up?

Last week I got the itch to look at the Mach-E to replace my 2019 Bolt. I'm happy with the Bolt but coming from a long line of performance cars before the Bolt, I was interested in the Mach-E and it's better performance. I had a silver Premium with the long range battery lined up (from a...
