I agree with many of the points made above:
If you like it, negotiate. I think it's overpriced by around $4-6K, at least based on similar models and a quick check of what you can buy online and locally near me.
Definitely check if it's a Job 1 vs Job 2. Those of us who got these in '21 know...
Hey everyone,
I popped the frunk open recently, like for the first time in months, and noticed the hood just wouldn't stay open. Typically I've had this happen in with other vehicles, especially in colder temperatures and it's usually a case of the gas springs needing to go back to normal after...
My back door got crunched in a hit-and-run and from the time of the accident to the actual repair, paint and drive home date (and this was jus a door, nothing else) it took approximately 6 months. So yeah, replacement parts for brand new cars like these are taking forever to get.
It's been a month now and that charger has been rock-solid. Not a single charge error message, and on average, gives me about 25 miles of range back per hour. Never gets overly hot and looks real good on the wall to boot!
Have a Job 2, August 2021 build Premium and when I took delivery, it had a pretty sizeable gap between the windshield and the pano roof that was causing a ton of wind noise and which looked ripe for the sort of rock collision you endured.
Tried out a couple of solutions and ended up with this...
UPDATE: 8/2/2022
Despite Ford reaching out to me and very nicely offering some helpful suggestions, it seemed the best course of action was to take it into the dealer and have them look at it. As a reminder, I had been getting near constant CHARGE FAULT errors, leading to angst and general...
So the original estimate was around $4400 but it came in at around $5K or so. I only paid $100 out of pocket. The biggest issue were these single-use clips that some parts were using so that if you removed a part, you essentially had to break it off.
UPDATE: 7/28/2022:
So 4 months (!!!) after my passenger rear door was scrunched by an uncaring Doordasher, followed by weeks and then months of broken promises from Ford to release a new car door, all the parts finally arrived a few weeks ago and my once-beautiful Mach-e entered the shop...
So far so good! The rubber has been a little beat up by bugs, rocks, weather, etc., but it's held in surprisingly well! Considering how cheap and easy to install it was, I can't imagine the Ford fix is that much better a solution. I'm currently out of town, but once I get back, I'll post some...
Well, I'm kinda of in purgatory. I'd like to bring the vehicle into the dealer to get the two updates that Ford recommended which they seem to think will solve the problem, BUT I'm still waiting for my new door to arrive to fix the damage from somebody backing into the car.
In the meantime...
Update 5/20/2022
So I finally was able to talk with a Ford Customer Representative after being contacted through this board. He looked up my vehicle and noticed it hadn't been getting updates for awhile, which isn't that surprising since it was a Job 2 build and was fairly good to go when I...
Exactly. This wasn't happening for months but now is so what changed? Had to be an update or a failing component which means tons of time at the dealers. Ugh....
Well, other than some very minor issues that I've solved/resolved (mostly because of the awesome people on this board!), I've been fairly lucky with my MME. Unfortunately, about three-four weeks ago, I started getting constant charge fault errors popping up all the time, whereas in the previous...
Thanks for the condolences to everyone. Quick update(s): I now have grainy, video doorbell footage of her backing up out of a driveway, hitting my door, getting out, LOOKING AT IT(!), and then driving off. Awesome.
Also, the body shop was originally worried it might take months for the parts to...
Aargh...
Went to our friends house for dinner last night, came back went to bed. Woke up, went to run errands and saw that somebody had reversed right into the passenger side door. Crunched it up real nice.
Luckily, no frame or battery damage, but the body shop said it'll need a new door. So...
***UPDATE!!!***
Well, first the good... the tape was cheap, the tape worked; it was easy to apply onto the gap and it didn't look too ugly!
The bad... it didn't last long! I was driving down the parkway when all of a sudden I started hearing a "WHAP! WHAP! WHAP!" with no idea what was going...
I know this topic has been hashed over and over again but I figure I'd share my experience.
As background, I took delivery in September of my August-built, Star White ER RWD Premium. Since then, I've thoroughly enjoyed the heck out of it both as an EV and a cool tech platform for all the new...
