At my local Ford dealership in Orange County, CA they have 5 sitting on the lot. Im sure they all have ADM, but I have never seen more than 1 on their lot since the car launched.
Maybe I’m just an old man, but one of the reasons I bought this car over other EVs was because it had am radio. Ford probably has data showing people don’t listen to it much, but I’m sad to see it go.
This just happened to me today. I only use PAAK and couldn’t figure out how to get out of the guest profile. Considering this was reported a while ago I’m surprised Ford hasn’t fixed it by now. Getting in the car and it suddenly not being in one pedal drive is a little surprising.
I keep my cars a while. Hoping this one lasts me 8-10 years. Even though technology will get better, I just hope my battery still has decent range left by then. I’m babying the battery as best I can at this point.
Wow, that would be a nightmare. Glad you still made it! These trips do require so much planning. Until my wife can hop in the car, set the destination in the nav and just follow it, EVs are going to struggle on road trips. And we are not there yet.
Very good point. I’m glad I charged to 80% in Baker. It was probably in the mid 50s when I was driving. With temps in the 100s and AC going I’m sure one would get sub 1 miles per kWh.
I knew the EA chargers in Baker could have issues, so at least I was prepared for it. I would check the PlugShare app before your trip and see what people are saying about each charger to make sure they are operational and/or if they have had any issues lately.
While the GOM range shifting...
I certainly wouldn't want to dissuade anyone from road tripping their car. Although I will admit I had to do my first trip in it without my wife as she would be saying, "I told you so" constantly as well.
I take probably 1-2 road trips a year without the family and the car will be just fine for...
Definitely. If I was still unable to get the EA chargers to work that was where I was headed next. I’ll admit I don’t know if they use plug and charge though or if I can use my Ford charging credits with it so that is why I tried to stick with EA despite the slow charging speeds.
That is good to know about these chargers. I never tried calling though. I did get one to work eventually. If I had not there are some EVgo chargers up the road and I would have tried my luck with those.
Flamingo. They have 4 chargers, but only 2 of them work. You need a ChargePoint account, but it is free. I may have gotten lucky getting a spot Friday afternoon. I never saw the EV charging area have a free space after that.
I drove my GT from Orange County, CA to Las Vegas over the weekend, and as many have done I wanted to give a few impressions from my trip.
Charged up to 100% at home, and headed off to Baker, CA to charge, keeping speeds at or below 75 mph. One other passenger, two suitcases and golf clubs in...
As long as I’m charged above 70% or so I have no grey bars. Below that there is typically a bar or two. I also live in Southern California so the weather may make a difference.
I have had my GT for about a month now, and as my prior car was an I-PACE I have enough experience to compare the two cars now.
Pros for Mach-E:
Infotainment - This is the biggest one for me. The infotainment system in the Mustang is the best I have ever used in a car. Everything is well...
I tried out BlueCruise a little more yesterday. Traffic was slow, never really got above 30-40 mph and the system worked just fine. Went probably 20 miles and never had to intervene and I was able to sit back and relax. It does appear to be when the speeds get higher that I have issues.
I was able to try out BlueCruise for the first time today. It did just fine in stop and go traffic, seems to favor the right side of lane, but not a big deal when I was going slow.
Then traffic opened up to 70-75 mph and the ride side bias became much more apparent and unverving. At one point...
