Most of us carry the phone everywhere anyway. Unless you are turning off location data they could be tracking location date regardless of which nav you use.

I agree with you, but what car company (other than Tesla) does provide navigation map updates for free after a couple of years, even at $50k ?

I have been using CarPlay with Apple maps almost exclusively for 2+ years and I don't recall ever seeing an advertisement in it. (unless you are referring to business names that happen to be shown on the map)
