My summary of the review:
magneride is sweet
GTPE seats are nice
steering is not good
extra power isn't as meaningful in BEVs
Not sure I agree with the last point. That's kinda the BEV parlor trick at the moment.
Agreed. Taking charging infrastructure into consideration, I feel that while Mach-E is the better car, Model Y is the better EV today. I have no doubt the charging infrastructure will improve, but the road trip charging situation is likely to get worse before getting better as more EVs are on...
Ohh... Now we're talking. Not sure about the wheels or the crystal knob thingy, but everything else looks good. Can't wait for it to become available. This market segment can definitely use a few more players.
Do you have a link to that? Would love to read more about what's been stated before.
The one relevant interview I could find is https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/darren-palmer-on-mach-e-gt-shelby-models-and-the-future-of-the-v8-mustang-full-interview.420/. During that interview, Mr...
Preaching to the choir here my friend... October can't come soon enough. Even then, it's possible that Ford may still choose to remain silent. To play devil's advocate, if the GT buyers who really care about outright performance are a minority among minorities, does Ford actually need to do...
I doubt Tesla needs to convert prospective Mach-E customers in order to be successful...
I'm sure there are lots of happy owners. But that doesn't excuse the fact that the GTs (including the, ahem, "Performance Edition") don't quite perform as expected. Both can be true.
As it stands now...
Right now it's a two horse race between Mach-E GT and MY perf. If you don't want the Tesla, you'll have to settle for Mach-E with its limitations ("I live my life 1/8 mile at a time"). But hopefully the EV6 GT will join the field soon. Maybe followed by the M version of BMW's iX? Maybe also...
This is pure speculation of course. But maybe they weren't happy with the lack of acceleration above 60mph? I'd be a bit annoyed too if I wasn't aware of this.
Oh my. That probably explains why nobody has done a 3.5 yet. I'm all for running simulations and utilizing computer aided design, but publishing performance numbers that can't be backed up seems like a sure way to shoot oneself in the foot.
Where would the fun be in that? I'm personally enjoying the rampant speculation and wild theories in this thread.
J/K. Doubt FMC will offer any clarification though. Maybe that'll change once the review embargo is lifted next month, but I'm not holding by breath.
If the GTs were intentionally neutered to not compete with ICE Mustangs, that'd be a pretty damning indictment of the product strategy. Self sabotaging is the worst possible scenario here, as the GTs would be severely handicapped in comparison tests with other vehicles in this market segment...
Congrats! "straight line speed, family friendly, range, infotainment" - yup the plaid X checks all the boxes.
The plaid S is insane. A bone stock family sedan that runs the quarter mile in the low 9s seemed impossible just a couple of years ago. Like it or hate it, you gotta admit that Tesla...
