That's exactly it. We've gotten updates that have said "don't talk about this", but those are (sadly) far and few between. This doesn't seem to be a super-secret hush-hush deal.
A philosophical stance (your words) doesn't have to be "bought" - it's what their engineers wanted. And if anything, 2PD is playing more nanny than 1PD since 2PD is the *default* behaviour of vehicles - let off the gas/power, the car coasts. 2PD is *better according to their engineers*, so...
Actually, they don't do one-pedal driving because it's the most efficient way to drive an EV - unnecessarily slowing down by using regen is always less efficient than coasting. Yes, you can feather the throttle to emulate the same behaviour, but 99% of drivers won't do that.
Sure, but that happens relatively rarely (I guess I don't get the welcome lights when that happens?), and the door still opens after that one press, albeit after a short delay. I'm not privy to how other manufacturers do this, but there must be a tradeoff here - and my completely unfounded...
To pile on to the anecdotes, it works fine on my not-very-common Sony Xperia 1 VI, along with my wife's more-common Pixel 9 Pro. The most that needs to happen is to wake the car up by pressing one of the unlock buttons.
I'm pretty sure this is what people will point to when they say "they don't build them like they used to". There's a sliding scale between repairability and cost of building, between access to modules and squeezing out every last gram/litre in the packaging.
I just replaced the LVB in my October 2020 build, after receiving two warnings from FordPass about it, a couple of months apart. I've even treated it really poorly at some points (let it slowly drain while doing FDRS updates because my power supply wasn't powerful enough), etc etc. Didn't have...
I still have my dividers in my '21 Job 1 and I use the frunk A LOT. Takeout, additional charging cables/adapters (my Bosch VCI for FDRS lives in there), headrests when I need max space in the cabin with the seats folded, etc. We're a single-car family, so it's a do-everything car for us and I...
I seriously wonder how people manage to get by in life with so little understanding of the world around them.
Seriously. Running the PTC heater (since that pulls more energy than the A/C) at full blast will run down the battery in ~14 hours. Running it at half capacity with 50% battery (which...
2021 Job 1 here and yes, still stuck with grey jail bars, though I haven't checked in a while to see if there's an IPC update within the last ~6 months (I doubt it).
Maybe if they actually sold vehicle form factors that appeal to a wider audience - maybe something more efficient than a brick of a crossover, or an even larger brick of a truck - they'll fare better?
Oh good, can't wait for more non-Tesla drivers on the road to be unwittingly part of a beta test.
If people hate driving this much and would like to be driven around poorly, then please just take an Uber.
I'm really guessing this is where the ER RWD shines? Didn't have any issues taking longer trips these past few days. I can charge at home, so that's a plus. Garage isn't heated, but is part of the house. I did make sure to charge to 100% and precondition the battery before departure.
