Unintended acceleration and dealership will not acknowledge there is a problem

Yeah, that’s useful in stop and go traffic on the freeway. It would be jarring if it happened in a parking lot by accident.

I can no longer recommend JuiceBox chargers

I converted my Juicebox to be a dumb EVSE after the app update about 6 months ago. Just blocked its network access in my router. Then last week the LED light failed on the unit. It still works, but no more light.

    Electric Vehicle Fire extinguishing technique

First thing I did. Get a heat detector, not a smoke detector. Mine is tied into my security system. I also have a video camera so if the alarm goes off at night, I can check the garage without opening the garage door.

Heading to $0 value? Not sure if makes sense to keep...

Look, I’m annoyed that it’s depreciated faster than other vehicles too. I didn’t plan on trading it quickly, but turns out we need a 3-row vehicle, cause kids. Life circumstances change, and we can’t always predict it. I was hoping for average depreciation, but it’s been above average. I...

    Charging Capacity

This would all be a lot less confusing if the window sticker said “about 290ish.” People don’t read the fine print, or apparently understand the word “estimated”.

Thinking of removing the rear hatch so I can put golf bags at back and uses a golf cart.

I agree. You should sell it and use the money to go back to community college and take a writing course.

    How long does pre-conditioning last?

I haven’t preconditioned mine more than a few times in 2 years. I rarely leave at the same time every day. The only time I did it was when I knew I was driving 200+ miles that day, which is almost never. In fact, it’s normally a huge waste of energy. It runs the 6kw heater for over 30 minutes...

    12V Battery FAQ

I meant turn connected services off for a few days to see if the problem clears up, then they can dig in more specifically to see what is causing the repeated polling. Turning it off permanently isn’t really a solution.

    12V Battery FAQ

Have you tried fully turning off all connected services in the car? Maybe something is causing the ford servers to ping the car way too often. This would at least see if it’s a network-related module causing the drain.

    12V Battery FAQ

So I just checked this with my OBD reader. Opening the door drops the DC voltage from about 14.7 down to 13.3. The DC-DC converter initially drops down to 0 amps, but then immediately ramps back up after a few seconds. It indeed seems to be dropping the voltage to stop charging the 12V battery...

    12V Battery FAQ

What???? So tailgating with my car ON will drain my 12V battery? Wtf Ford? What could possibly be the reason for disabling the DC/DC converter when the door is opened?

Interview With Ford About Its Transition To NACS

I would have agreed with you until listening to this interview. Now I’m not so sure. Maybe eventually yeah, but if they do 2 ports then it’s a simple swap. Connect NACS to the wires the old CCS pins went to. Leave J1772 as is. No jacking with the BMS, HVJB, etc. I could see them doing that for a...

Interview With Ford About Its Transition To NACS

I’m saying they WOULD need two separate ports. Just not CCS. They would need NACS for DC and J1772 for AC. Unless they redesign the charge circuitry inside the car.

Interview With Ford About Its Transition To NACS

NACS is the CCS protocol with a different plug, yes, but CCS doesn’t do AC charging. That’s J1772. Teslas have to have an internal switch that isolates the 400V DC bus when plugged into a level 2 AC charger. The Mach E doesn’t. AC goes on top (J1772) and DC goes on bottom (CCS ports). Ford would...

Feeling bouncy lately? Time for more air in those tires.

Did you mean $50 per tire or $50 more per tire? There’s no way you are paying $50 for those tires right? I have them in 245/55r18. Went with more sidewall for comfort. Also went with an SL tire and run them around 35 psi. I’ve liked them a lot, but only got 22k miles out of them. About to buy...

    Anyone using 16Amp 240V (3.8kW) home charging?

I’ve been charging on a 20A charger almost every night. It’s the one that came with our AUDI PHEV. It has a front switch to select 20A or 40A. It gets really hot when it’s set to 40A so I don’t feel comfortable running it overnight that way. Even at 20A I always wake up with my battery at 80%...

    Anyone using 16Amp 240V (3.8kW) home charging?

There is a prescribed way to determine load factors in the national electric code. You can’t just guess if you are doing it the right way, although the odds of an inspector actually checking may be low in many areas. A 100A panel can easily be maxed out even in the real world if you add a 40A...

Why is Everyone Crapping on the Mach-E?

Agree on price. After tax credit, my 2021 premium SR AWD was around 44k. That was and still is a great value for an EV of this size. At 54k I’m not sure I would agree. And I definitely wouldn’t think a GTPE was worth it at 60-70k. A model Y was also a sucker’s buy when they were going for near...

Storm Clouds ahead for used BEV values

Same here. It didn’t seem worth the extra 6 hours it probably would have taken at the dealership to get them to figure out Options. Now I wish I had. Although I’d still like to keep the car longer than 3 years so I guess it doesn’t matter.

Why is Everyone Crapping on the Mach-E?

I’ve had my premium since 2021. Haven’t had any problems and I still really like it. 22k miles.
