Weird Apple CarPlay issue - help needed.

A point of clarification about CarPlay and Bluetooth. CarPlay absolutely uses Bluetooth. However it is just to setup the WiFi connection between the car and the phone, and not for data transfer. Try disabling Bluetooth before you get in the car and see how well wireless CarPlay works...

Do you consider the Mach-E an SUV?

Still means it is a Mustang. It’s right there in the name.

Do you consider the Mach-E an SUV?

I totally believe that the Mustang II is a legit Mustang. But back in the day there were Mustang owners that didn’t believe that and wanted to exclude them from shows. Thankfully cooler heads at the Mustang Club of America prevailed and welcomed Mustang IIs with open arms, as they have with the...

Do you consider the Mach-E an SUV?

Ford makes the car. Ford gets to name the car. Ford named it a Mustang. Therefore it's a Mustang. As to what makes a real Mustang, well, that's subject to a lot of debate. And my first entry into that debate would be a Mustang II with the vinyl roof.

When the frunk is open, the car lights stay off. This is not OK!

Why? The feature provides exactly what you are clamoring for: illumination of the car at night when accessing the frunk. Where do you think the power for the illumination would be coming from in your scenario of having the illumniation on when accessing the frunk? I've had my car for 2 years...

When the frunk is open, the car lights stay off. This is not OK!

The amount of power drawn to do the welcome lights, and the frequency of it happening, is not enough to be concerned about if the car is driven or charged on a regular basis. And by that I mean at least once or twice a week. I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill with that argument.

When the frunk is open, the car lights stay off. This is not OK!

Does any other car with a frunk light up when the frunk is opened? I’d start there. Or with the relevant federal safety standard that might govern this.

A2Z vs Lectron vs Other Brands

Waiting for mine. While I do have a roadtrip to SoCal planned for July, it was always going to be using the Highlander because of the number of people we have to transport.

Dear Ford… why no 12v battery gauge?

I suspect that the 12V problems that have plagued the 2021 models is a function of the 12V battery management system sucking with those early models. And as updates have rolled out to those early vehicles, the 12V battery management has gotten better. That doesn't mean that the batteries didn't...

Dear Ford… why no 12v battery gauge?

23 months and 34K miles of ownership of a 2022. Zero 12V issues. Not saying that other people haven't had problems, but those largely seem to be 2021 models.

    Temp CA HOV sticker placement/use?

This is how I put mine on, using PPF: #121 Don't think that just having the stickers in the car is sufficient to avoid an HOV violation. A number of people have found out the hard way that if the sticker isn't on the car, they can get cited.

Battery tech progressing at a rapid pace

There's some 268M light-duty cars and trucks on the road today. Average annual sales of new cars prior to the pandemic was around 17M. Today it is about 15.5M. If we stopped buying ICE vehicles today, and just started buying EVs, it would take between 16 and 18 years to replace all those cars...

    Charging Amp Setting in L2

Maximum acceptance rate of the MME is 48A (11.52 kW) The car normally ships with a unit that is fixed at 32A (7.68 kW). I'm using my old 32A unit from a previous car. It's hardwired. I haven't encountered a need to go higher than that. I've been able to get a full charge overnight without a...

A New Hope? The Story Continues.

Musk didn't payoff anyone. What he did was setup a battery supply chain that conforms to the requirements set forth by the Inflation Reduction Act. Ford is free to do that, too. And has for the Lightning truck and Escape PHEV. Also of note, the Escape only gets half the credit that the Lightning...
