Could be worse: We could be one of those folks who put down $250,000 on a “2020” Tesla Roadster in 2017.
Or one of the people who paid $15,000 for “Full Self Driving” in 2022.
I can definitely arrange 30 minutes of L2 charging time a couple of times a week, if nothing else. Normally I like to keep my HV battery at 80% when it's fire season around here, in case I need to bug out of the area, but that's over… so I can let it get low enough to allow for a few 30+ minute...
Assuming I am able to somehow charge to 100% and get the sulfation cleared out of my battery… the implication is that I'd probably need to take my car out for a spin every day (like walking my dogs) to maintain my 12V at an adequate state of charge to preclude this kind of thing from happening...
That's the kind of thing that I could do myself that I was wondering if it would suffice. Sadly, I don't have a garage… but it ought to be safe if it's locked up and in my driveway.
That's an incredibly helpful and comprehensive article… and also really bad news to those of us who don't have the appropriate hardware (or electrical knowhow) to remediate the problem for ourselves.
I'm trying to imagine going to my dealership armed with this information, and after getting...
That sulfation can't be cleared out any other way? There's no way for the HV battery to properly maintain the 12V battery? Or leaving the car on a live Type 2 charger?
Admittedly, this would be less of an issue if Ford hadn't made the 12V battery so damned difficult to access.
I just wanted to circle back and thank everyone for your help. It saved me an uneccessary tow… to say nothing of my stressing over my motor.
Just to follow up: after starting up again and not seeing the problem recur, I later took my first drive with my OBD2 scanner attached, monitoring my 12V...
I just tried starting up my car again… and it started up fine. Maquis seems to have been correct, and this was my sound system having gone completely batshit.
That's interesting, my initial thought was that it was coming from the sound system. When I exited the vehicle, usually the sound system goes off, but if it were truly haywire, maybe it wouldn't have. And I guess if the bass were going nuts, I'd have that sensation of feeling it through the...
This is not a problem I'd ever read about here before… I just got into my car and after noticing that it wasn't connecting to my phone's CarPlay (which is surprisingly rare) I noticed that Sync 4 was frozen entirely. As I was trying to remember the particular button combination to reboot Sync...
I'm as impatient as anyone for BC 1.3, but at least we weren't charged thousands of dollars in 2019 with the promise that when Full Self Driving arrives (soon!) we could have our cars be used as robo-taxis when we don't need them to generate passive income for ourselves.
When I got my new iPhone 15 Pro Max, I was also having problems with GPS in CarPlay… it was sometimes putting me in an adjacent street, and on some complex freeway exits it was absolutely bonkers - and I had never had that problem with my previous iPhone 14 Pro.
And then I also noticed that in...
In my experience, the car in is pretty much a Faraday cage with some distinct areas that allow RF reception, such as the places on the window designated for mounting electronic toll collection hardware.
The iPhone 14 Pros have dual-frequency GPS for added precision, but if my phone is kept in...
