  1. Engineering Explained: Summer / all-season / winter tires, and FWD/RWD/AWD

Sometimes science hurts. Or as an old cowboy from Oklahoma used to say, it may be sad but it's true.
  2. "Drive mode unavailable"

Drive modes have been unavailable for me several times a month since this past summer. It always defaults to Engage and then takes a while before it goes back to normal. That's the only thing that seems typical. Sometimes it clears itself in a couple minutes or just one key cycle. Other times...
  3. Studded tire recommendations ?

I'm north of you, north of SeattIe. I bought a set of 18" route one wheels with aero covers to serve as winter wheels for my premium. I use the OEM michelin tires on these wheels once it starts to freeze at night and put General Altimax studded tires on when the snow and ice begins to stick...
  4. New ARCO Freewire CCS charger worked great!

No doubt an accurate observation, and also why they're so welcome in the rural area where I live. They apparently do not require any significant investment to extend the grid to the installation site. I believe they use 240 volt AC, available most everywhere, to trickle charge the supply battery...
  5. New ARCO Freewire CCS charger worked great!

There are several of these north of Seattle along I5 also. They do work great, No app or account required and are relatively inexpensive too.
  6. Thief got into car but PAAK should have locked car.

I'll try that , thanks. Perhaps it's that easy.
  7. Thief got into car but PAAK should have locked car.

If it's no more satisfactory than that I'll report back. I've only had the car at the dealer one other time and they were very helpful. They took care of several issues. Hopefully I'll have a similar experience.
  8. Some new Electrify America prices showed up

    Pacific Northwest. Good old USA.
  9. Some new Electrify America prices showed up

Several convenience stores and gas stations around here are installing DC chargers made by Freewire. No app or account necessary. Plug in and swipe your credit card. .35 cents per kwh and they work great.
  10. “Turn motion sensor off?” bug update?

    And truly unacceptable as well.
  11. Thief got into car but PAAK should have locked car.

I've never used PAAK. I only use a key fob. It's the only key fob the car knows. Walk away lock worked great for about a year and has now begun to fail occasionally over the last several months. I first realized the car had failed to lock when a family member was able to retrieve an item left in...
  12. Personal Profile Bug?

The profile bugs are extremely frustrating and not necessarily tied to multiple profiles or PAAK. I only use my key fob, never PAAK. My profile is the only one created and my fob is the only key associated with that profile. I also have enabled easy exit so the seat moves back when the car is...
  13. How LOW (range) can YOU go?

Thanks for sharing the video. My experience is similar. There must be plenty of drivers out there who just don't understand the car they're driving. I've been thinking for a while now that perhaps I'm the only one who has noticed this kind of confusion but perhaps not. I've owned my 22' premium...
  14. Car Broken into while locked

I use walk away lock. I also use the key fob rather than PAAC. I know that my car failed to lock at least once after I walked away. I began to watch closely after that but have not had that problem again. I have no idea why that would happen. Thankfully it was a family member that entered the...
  15. Charging at charging stations without an App

Freewire, if there are any around you. They're just getting started. Two of their sites are near me and they work great.
  16. Disable inclination (tilt) sensor

I think the best solution would be to make "ask on exit" work as intended. It does not work now. I have to assume this is a software glitch. Why would we be given the option to turn motion sensors off on exit and then have our selection ignored? I think the problem may be that the "ask on exit"...
  17. California Route 1

I believe the wheels you provide a link to are 18" wheels from a Select trim. Those are not the same as Route 1 which are black 5 spoke wheels. If you search online for pictures of the OEM wheels for MME you'll see the difference. When I was searching for these wheels, some sellers were...
  18. California Route 1

Not sure exactly how more efficient but enough at freeway speed to notice. I have studded tires on these wheels and so there's surely some range loss with the tires. Just around town at temps below freezing my range was about 190 to 200. That's with an extended range battery and only occasional...
  19. California Route 1

I found them used on Ebay. Santa Ana Wheel in Anaheim CA.
  20. California Route 1

I bought a set of Route 1 wheels and aero covers to use as winter wheels with my Premium AWD. They've been on now since December. They are definitely more efficient than the premium wheels in colder temps, particularly at freeway speeds.
