Never had a 'fun' car before .... I'm hooked!

I’ve only ever washed it at home, and all of once (thanks, PNW weather). But I have not noticed any lift off yet, and I didn’t do anything other than warm it up with a hairdryer a bit when installing.

    Random Wiper Swipe

Same here to ask this. Sounds like that's what's happening.

Well, Ford, the new "Distance To Empty" algorithm doesn't work . . .

I know actual miles in the "tank" matter more with an EV when it takes 45 minutes to recharge, but do you think people in other car forums complain that their ICE vehicles show wildly variable DTE figures? I've never had a car where that was accurate.

The ‘next-generation’ of CarPlay is launching this year; here’s everything we know

Apple did not announce that. What they announced is that those car manufacturers have licensed CarPlay. It was all carefully worded, and that's literally my point. Yes, Ford will have CarPlay, just like they do now. Will they do the entire UI takeover that Apple demoed? Not a chance. You're...

The ‘next-generation’ of CarPlay is launching this year; here’s everything we know

I don't think they will drop it. They could continue to allow CarPlay to do exactly what it does now. But they certainly are not going to allow it to take over the entire UI across both screens like Apple proposes.

The ‘next-generation’ of CarPlay is launching this year; here’s everything we know

Quick point ... read that article carefully. No where does it say that FORD says they'll implement this. FordAuthority wrote that article making an assumption based on a logo. All those makers are just CarPlay licensees. It's not a commitment to using any specific feature set. Also, in their...

The ‘next-generation’ of CarPlay is launching this year; here’s everything we know

I saw that once yesterday, but it was right after an update to 3.6.2 that had our car charge to full accidentally, so I chalked it up to that. It recovered on its own, though. Never happened before that, though. Edit: Just saw we got 4.1.1 overnight. So close!

The ‘next-generation’ of CarPlay is launching this year; here’s everything we know

No way that is coming to any car this year. That said, Apple CarPlay can already communicate with the Mach-E. In Apple Maps, not only does it get battery state from the car (used to calculate battery percentage on arrival), but it can push the next turn directions into the car for display on...

Torque Vectoring eAWD -- It's quite nice

I told my wife, "thing thing is just point-and-shoot." It's funny ... it kind of encourages me to drive it more aggressively because I know it's going to go where I want it to go. I hear people bemoaning all the time that without the feel of an engine, a real connected throttle, the noise, the...

    Gengar Vinyl (I need opinions)

I would do something smaller and maybe more subtle (like the outline Xenotet did), in that useless little triangular window ... unless you've already covered it in louvers like I did.

    Solar panel glass roof

We don't know to what degree constant solar charging is going to impact battery longevity. Maybe not much, since regen kind of does this too. I think solar to the home, where's it's stationary and can be stored in an auxiliary battery for later use, makes a lot more sense. I know that's not an...

Tick Tock Mr. Farley, Tick Tock.

Kind of a mean-spirited thing to say in a fan forum, man. Revenue was $4B HIGHER than projected. They should have pocketed half that, but didn't. Farley knows where the issue is and they're making the corrections. Honestly, the only real issue is that investors don't like surprises. CEOs live...

EV tax credit counting toward capital gains?

Possibly. Could also be forward-thinking, since in the future, the credit will be at POS, in which case it does reduce the price paid. Could be some of that wording was in anticipation of that changing for 2024.

EV tax credit counting toward capital gains?

It says, '... you may have to ...' not that you must. There is some other criteria there that line is considering. Gotta love vague tax code. The problem is that even if you claim the credit, it's not refundable (at least, not this year). So some people may not actually 'get' all of that $7500...

EV tax credit counting toward capital gains?

If you bought for X and sold for X, there is no capital gain or loss. The federal tax credit doesn't come off the price of the car. If it did, the less expensive the car, the higher the capital gain incurred due to the tax credit. It doesn't really work that way. Your tax guy is being extremely...

What causes fast chargers to go down?

Surely you've used a computer and had an application crash, you restart that app, and you're fine. Sometimes that crash causes the entire computer to panic and reboot. Sometimes those crashes are bad enough to lock up the computer, requiring you to physically restart the entire machine. These...

To do or not to do…

That's why I specified 'in-demand.' You don't need to incentivize purchases when demand is high. And like I said, these changes are often quite far behind. Private offers were to prevent cancellations, but was by definition done between model years. Bonus cash is to spur demand in areas where...

To do or not to do…

When was the last time Ford reduced prices on an in-demand vehicle mid-model year? Aside from the occasional decontenting (Active Park Assist), that is?
