Dropped off my GTPE at the dealer this morning and picked up a nice Ford Explorer. Service department was great. A few hours later they called back and said a Ford tech actually came to the dealer to diagnosis the issue and determined it has a bad latch mechanism. Apparently a known issue...
Ford pushed the issue further and told the dealer to take the car ASAP due to safety concern which is great! Giving me a loaner but as others have noted with service...we may not see the car for awhile...
Dealer called this morning saying Ford called them. Taking the car 5/9 instead of 5/12, giving me a loaner but he said not sure what it will be until Monday...could be an F150...that would be hilarious. Anyway, they are taking in a couple days early, but stated they may not be able to look at...
If you read the original post you would see that I called the dealer and they gave me an appointment 4 weeks out so I am still waiting for 5/12 to come…
Its been a week since I posted this an no word from NHTSA or anyone meaningful at Ford that can address the situation. Had one additional door opening event since the highway event but luckily the latest one was while parked. Door fault warning persists at each power up. We have noticed that...
This thread has really gone off the rails. Regardless if anyone was wearing a seatbelt, the door opening on the highway is a major issue for Ford and opens them up to a huge liability. Wearing a seatbelt will not necessarily save you as you state that it absolutely will. A seatbelt is a safety...
Of course, driving straight at speed and you open the door it is hard to fully open. But try doing that while taking a highway exit or on ramp with the door on the outside of the curve and let me know what happens…
it was just the driver in this case, on the other side of the car so in this specific case no person was going to fall out. And yes if a passenger was there and wearing seatbelt then it would be very unlikely they would fall out but that is not the only possible scenario. Tragic accidents...
Driving at highway speed and the door opened as if someone pushed the button outside. It opened as much and the mechanical opener props it open. It did not swing open because it was a straightaway but I was driving on a curve then the g-force would have opened more or all the way and something...
We’ve had this for about 4 months and generally it’s been great. Stupid quirks that need fixing like Sirius presets changing, profiles getting mixed up, other little stuff. But as a whole the car is awesome. This door sensor is crazy. There needs to be a fail safe on the electric door...
This is unreal...driving on the highway and the passenger door decides to open itself! This is an ongoing sensor issue but now local dealers can take the car in for a month. There are plenty of instances where people have had the door fault warning and apparently its a door sensor. But has...
I'm having the same issue. Maybe a little more though. Our passenger door started actually opening itself after we stop and turn off the car. There are no options that I know of that will actually open the door for you...that stopped after about two weeks and now every time we start the car...
Definitely shop around in this market. I tried Carvana, Vroom and Carmax for a 2017 Toyota Highlander Hybrid and carmax was a couple grand higher. Then I tried KBB instant offer which I new would light my phone up immediately but I ignored the calls and watched the emails. I took it to three...
