    Potential Owner. But many questions

I've only driven the AWD ER. I know it has more power than I've ever used, even climbing steep Colorado mountain passes. So much extra power than my guess is the RWD would still have enough to climb any mountain pass without struggle. But I don't know for sure. Be curious to hear from others...

    Potential Owner. But many questions

I suppose that's a fair way to put it. Not so much old EV tech as older car tech. Many of the components in Ford (and most legacy) EVs is borrowed from their existing gas vehicles. A mix of old and new. Whereas Tesla largely designed everything from scratch. That's part of why you see almost...

    Potential Owner. But many questions

The software is less than perfect, but I don't find it as bad as some do. The OP doesn't sound like one too impressed by fancy software anyway. EVs are significantly heavier than regular cars and thus tend to do better on wet roads. AWD is always nicer, of course, but less necessary in an EV...

Ford drops price of Mach-e by up to $8100

This applies to existing inventory of 2023's, right? Do online window stickers for existing vehicles on dealer lots automatically get adjusted with the new prices?

Ford drops price of Mach-e by up to $8100

That's always tricky. If you give a 14-day price guarantee, the people at 15 days get pissed. If you move it to 21 days to make them happy, the people at 22 days get pissed. And so on. There has to be a cut-off somewhere and you're always going to risk pissing off the people that just miss it...

Ford drops price of Mach-e by up to $8100

And then they ceased production a year later, as one would expect with a model selling so poorly that it has to be heavily discounted to move them. Let's hope the Mach-E doesn't meet the same fate. Not sure if they'll find a way out of this $$ hole in time though.

Ford drops price of Mach-e by up to $8100

That, but also that many accept less in salary to get stock instead. Which was a boon for them. But at some point that stock price won't keep soaring. Go through a few consecutive years of declines and they'll start getting antsy and want more salary.

Ford drops price of Mach-e by up to $8100

Well there's always Mexico to solve the UAW piece. But that's only part of the cost disadvantage on EVs. US-made ICE vehicles sell quite well, despite the higher labor costs, so they can often offset that with the advantage of local production. And Tesla also makes cars in the US, albeit with...

Ford drops price of Mach-e by up to $8100

That's part of it, but there's still that huge $7500 (or $3750, depending on trim) tax credit differential on top of that ($15,000/$11,250 differential vs 2022). That's an anchor hanging around Ford's neck until they can get the tax credit back. And even then, it'll only narrow the gap some...

Ford drops price of Mach-e by up to $8100

They have to be hemorrhaging money on these.

Ford’s New eCommerce Direct Vehicle Purchase Platform for EVs Now Live (bypasses dealer negotiating)

Yes, in today's buyer's market I wouldn't use X-Plan as I could surely get a much better deal. At the time we bought the MME it was a seller's market. And last Spring when we ordered the Bronco Sport, the MME had fallen off the cliff (lost the tax credit in April and they were piling up on...

Ford’s New eCommerce Direct Vehicle Purchase Platform for EVs Now Live (bypasses dealer negotiating)

Or just do what a lot of us did... Confirm with the dealership that they'd honor X-Plan. My closest dealer said yes in writing (email). Ordered it to the specs I wanted, waited for it, went in and paid for it when it came in. MSRP minus ~2% + $100 capped doc fee. Simple. Did it again 2 years...

Ford’s New eCommerce Direct Vehicle Purchase Platform for EVs Now Live (bypasses dealer negotiating)

I was going to post the same thing. 2 years ago buyers were screaming for this because it was a seller's market and MSRP was a good price. But now it's a buyer's market and MSRP is a bad price. People *want* to negotiate with dealers to get a much better price now. Some of us were warning...

Tax Incentives Gone - When Will Ford Slash Prices & How Much?

Not inflated. It's the actual MSRP. GT PE. Here's the window sticker.

Tax Incentives Gone - When Will Ford Slash Prices & How Much?

Yeah it looks like they just extended the $3000 Retail Bonus Cash from last month until April 2. But only for some trims. That made up for most of the loss of $3750 tax credit last year, but it's well short of making up for the full $7500 tax credit loss this year. I kinda figured Ford...

Tax Incentives Gone - When Will Ford Slash Prices & How Much?

Good for many applications, but the lower energy density is a problem for EVs where energy density is super important (enough range without adding too much weight). It's a bit like the LFP vs NMC deployment now, where the FLP's need to go into the shorter range trims because the energy density...

Tax Incentives Gone - When Will Ford Slash Prices & How Much?

You don't lead by losing money. Or in the case of the Mach-E, even more money. With so few EV models qualifying for the tax credit now, I'd be kind of surprised if they heavily discount it (and lose even more money). Of course, the Model Y is the biggie. Some trims of it still get the...

New York Ford And Lincoln Dealerships Go To Court To Fight New EV Sales Requirements

Can't say I blame them. Ford is trying to change the rules on them and squeeze them out. That does seem to run counter to many of the state dealership laws.

Mach-E Gets $3,750 Federal Tax Credit (versus $7500 for Lightning) After 4/18 Delivery

Unless the MSRP goes up tomorrow, or ADM gets added, now that it's known to get the full $7500 credit while many alternatives drop to $3750.
