I think that Ford just packed in some items that they can improve through OTA updates. I would expect over time to see them announce "better range", "Faster Charging" "Improved Charge curve", etc.
I was really surprised by the quality of the sound system when I got a chance t listen to it at the road show. I brought my phone and connected up via Android Auto and spent at least ten minutes listening to my music on Spotify.
The problem is that post-order communications is a double-edged sword. It is not just an opportunity to improve satisfaction, a message that for whatever reason does not resonate with the buyer can queer an already done deal. Consider the number of people on this forum that were angered by Ford...
Most people don't understand what a well-run marketing department is supposed to do, including their role in product development and positioning. They are under the mistaken impression that it is mostly about corporate communications, sales, or public relations.
I am willing to bet that Ford's marketing department had a LOT to say about how the Mach E was designed; from the way it looks, the features that were included, and even the way it drives.
It says you can use jumper cables to get into the car if the battery is dead. The only problem is I keep my jumper cables inside the vehicle. The little door should hide retractable jumper cables.
I believe the main things you are giving up is the wifi capability and a bit of charge speed. Since we live in an apartment, I like that the Ford charger allows me to put security on the charger so someone cannot pull in a charge when I am at work.
48 amps at the charger means 60 at the breaker. If it is like other chargers than it may be configurable to a lower power level if you only have room for 50 amps at the breaker.
