Have Plug-In now... convert to Hardwired?

8 would be awfully weak for a 60A. I'd definitely go at least 6, if not 4, for 60A (as your chart recommends). They used 6 for my 50A. Remember that an EVSE draws max power continuously for up to 12 hours. That's a lot more stress than a dryer or oven or even A/C that's only on for maybe 30...

Have Plug-In now... convert to Hardwired?

If the fuse (breaker, I hope) is only 30A or 40A, you need to be really careful to use an EVSE that's no more than 80% of that. On a 40A breaker, don't plug in anything that can draw more than 32A. If a 30A breaker, don't plug in anything that can draw more than 24A. That's the standard rule...

Charged Mach-E at Tesla Supercharger via Adapter

The app called "Car Scanner" is available for both Apple and Android. https://www.carscanner.info/ I keep an old cell phone in the car configured with it.

Charged Mach-E at Tesla Supercharger via Adapter

That's correct. Unless Ford pushes out a future OTA to only allow the charge port stop button to work with fob/PAAK authorization, anyone can stop the session and pull the adapter. There's no other lock on it beyond the active charging mechanisms. So leaving a charging car unattended leaves...

Is charging going to get much worse before it gets better?

Affordable everything is on the way out these days. 😎 But yeah, the reports I've heard of Pilot/FJ DCFC have not been very favorable on pricing. 65c is about 23c/mi at the 2.8 MPK we usually average on road trips in our MME 4x. That's the equivalent of $6.73 gas if driving our 29 MPG Bronco...

Charged Mach-E at Tesla Supercharger via Adapter

So you enter a DIFFERENT charger that's available in the nav, if there's one anywhere in the area. Yes, that's an option if lucky enough to have a different CCS charger in the area.

Charged Mach-E at Tesla Supercharger via Adapter

That's a V4. 9' cables instead of the 6' on V3s. There's only a few V4 stations, but they should be rolling out more from this point on. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the stations we'll be dealing with are V3s, and will be for probably years. (Or V2s that won't work for us at all.)

Charged Mach-E at Tesla Supercharger via Adapter

The V4 chargers have 9 foot cables instead of the 6 foot that's on V3s, yes. Looks like they'll also be centering the V4s in the parking spots, so they should reach either side. But there are almost no V4s in the US yet (just a few), and it will surely take many years before they become the...

Charged Mach-E at Tesla Supercharger via Adapter

Curious if the Tesla certificate is showing up in your Ford Pass Plug&Charge list? Someone said it may actually be there even if it's not showing in FP yet. Mine doesn't, even though I got the PowerUp in 2/29. I'm tempted to try a MagicDock nearby just to test it.

NACS Adapter Now Available + Ford EV Owners Can Now Charge on Tesla Superchargers in U.S., Canada! 🙌

A2Z has been really good getting them out in a reasonable amount of time, although no doubt their order rate keeps soaring, especially after Rivian just getting access. I would guess you'll get it before May.

NACS Adapter Now Available + Ford EV Owners Can Now Charge on Tesla Superchargers in U.S., Canada! 🙌

I think the last Ford order# I saw was around 68,000 with Sept delivery. But pretty sure the Rivian adapters are the same units, which should mean GMs and the others will be the same pool of Tesla-made adapters. Overlapping, but staggered starts. Ford's pace looks like around 10k-15k/mo. Add...

NACS Adapter Now Available + Ford EV Owners Can Now Charge on Tesla Superchargers in U.S., Canada! 🙌

The issue is the same, yes. Ground clearance and nose length doesn't really change. Whether one "needs" them or not is matter for each person to weigh. It's an option that could help a bit in some cases. But every station is laid out a little differently. I'm not planning on getting any, but...

Tesla Supercharger network now up to 57 locations with Magic Dock (3/19/24)

Figured out the main (only?) purpose for the "Have an Adapter" setting in the Tesla app. It determines which stations to display on the map. For a non-Tesla vehicle, "No" will only display Magic Dock stations, while "Yes" displays both MD and adapter-capable stations.

Tesla Supercharger network now up to 57 locations with Magic Dock (3/19/24)

I knew of the 2-second button lock, but I didn't realize the order changed too. That's what I was doing wrong. Used to have to activate in the app FIRST, now (if not using P&C) it looks like you have to activate in the app SECOND after locking/removing the MD.

Tesla Supercharger network now up to 57 locations with Magic Dock (3/19/24)

Really? Interesting! I'll have to try that. Well, if I can get the MD to lock on. 😎

Tesla Supercharger network now up to 57 locations with Magic Dock (3/19/24)

Yep. Tried multiple times. The MD would push in a little as expected but wouldn't release, since the NACS handle would never lock on first. Just couldn't get it to lock on. Even tried canceling the session in the Tesla app then starting fresh. Just wouldn't lock on. I didn't bother trying a...

Tesla Supercharger network now up to 57 locations with Magic Dock (3/19/24)

Yeah, if I had the Tesla certificate showing in FP that probably would have worked, but I don't. Got the PowerUp 3 weeks ago but it never installed the Tesla certificate. So I had to try it the old way (activate via the Tesla app). Wanted to try that anyway just in case ever decided to sign...

Tesla Supercharger network now up to 57 locations with Magic Dock (3/19/24)

Did all that. Selected the stall# in the Tesla app first, then held the NASC handle lock button for 2 seconds to lock the NACS handle to the MD. Wouldn't lock on.

Tesla Supercharger network now up to 57 locations with Magic Dock (3/19/24)

So I tried to use a MagicDock for the first time this week (Buc-ees Colorado). Couldn't get the NASC handle to lock to the MD, even holding the lock button for 2+ seconds. I only made a couple of attempts before giving up because the station was 2/3rd full and I was tying up 2 spots, and I was...
