- My wife, Susan, bought a car like the one shown in the picture (except for tires and wheels - she had stock WSW tires) when she graduated high school in May of 1968. She was working her first job. You can see from Bill of Sale that it cost a whooping $2863.75 cash. I was down at U of I, Champaign-Urbana, studying pre-dentistry. We were going steady then (pretty much engaged) and got married in 1970 and that's when the car became "part mine." We kept it about 2 years and then bought a new 1972 red Ford Torino with a black vinyl top. PICTURE IS NOT OUR MUSTANG but our car looked almost exactly like the one pictured here. I looked and looked and could not find a picture of our own exact car which doesn't surprise me; I was studying in dental school and she could care less about cars.
