Have you tried restarting Sync while driving before you stop and restart the car?

The one time I couldn't get the car to switch to any of the drive modes while driving within a few minutes, I did a Sync restart and then it let me change drive modes again.
I have and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. If there is one constant it is that the car is always inconsistent.

I've not gotten this in several weeks, it just quit cold turkey on me. From 1-3 times per week to zero.

Got this today while parked waiting for the kids, car just reset to engaged. Rebooted sync and got it to change back to unbridled. Wish all these things got fixed 🙁

I had it twice over a few days but nothing in the last 10 days. Was able to reset it after I put it in park.

maybe it fixed itself.

I still have the headlight on issue from time to time but less than it had been.

now if I could stop getting the 12V battery fault from time to time, I would feel better. Hasn’t caused me any problems though.

Happened again this morning for me. I've seen it revert back driving modes the last 3 times I've used it. Hopefully it's software based and not something wrong with our cars.

Had about 3 weeks where it was working fine after a sync restart. Today it switched to engaged mode and refused to switch to Unbridled.

I am having this on a near daily basis now. Can sometimes change back immediately, sometimes it takes a few mins. Sometimes, it happens repeatedly and I just leave it in Engage. Definitely seems related to one of the 4.x upgrades, as I had zero instances in my first 20+ months of ownership.

Agreed this was never an issue before the ui rework upgrade. Hopefully it will be fixed, but given the track record of @Ford Motor Company I'm not holding my breath.

What brought me to this thread is that it's happening too me now as well. Mainly not until I'm at least 15 min. into a commute and anecdotally, it seems to be in a location where cell service is spotty. Seems like it started after the 4.x OTAs.

I'm yet to get this but, adversely, my Unbridle Extend, which used to be super picky and never be available, has been working in way more conditions. Have any other GTPE owners noticed that?

I've tried it a few times with around 60% battery, 50 degrees outside (about 3 or 4 grey bars were already showing at a stop), and a fresh start (meaning I went to run an errand while at work, so car was sitting cold for about 5 hours). Let me turn it on no problem and it stayed on.

I've had this issue since I first got my vehicle. Now, I purchased it used, but it hasn't even gotten into the 4.x OTAs yet. I'm still updating in the 3s. Temperature, weather, and charge level make no difference, I can never change drive modes. Has anyone had any luck resolving this without taking it to a dealer? All my local dealers are giving me at least a week turnaround time and I'm not losing my car for a week for this small bug.

I never had this until I got the new UI updates. Sunday night I had it happen 3 times on a 15 minute drive. It seems to happen for me while either accelerating or slowing down with 1pd, because I can feel the car change as it goes to its default mode.

I don't believe there is a reported fix at all, so resolving it at the dealer is probably not a thing either.

I agree. I am sure it will come back from the dealer with either a cannot duplicate concern or engineering is currently working on a repair - will update client when repair is available.
