Numbers will look good once they get all of the 2022s that were on chip hold for months, and are now sitting at the train station FULLY BUILT in Mexico ACTUALLY shipped out, instead of the random ones that get built and then just shipped right out as a ridiculous first come, first serve production line.

As far as SUVs go, the Explorer, Fusion and Edge are kings of the hill with the Mach-E on the outside looking in.

I've had both an Explorer and Edge and my daughter has also had two Explorers and an Edge and it's completely understandable. If you're looking for an SUV the Mach-E isn't the best option but if you're looking for an EV then the Mach-E is king of the hill.

Ford is on pace to sell 27,000 Mach-e units this year. Pathetic when their aspiration is to get to 200,000 a year. This chip shortage is strangling the industry.

Same as last year's first quarter. Seems things are not going very well. I hope volumes improve, but will not be holding my breath...

Tesla had a record Q1 with respect to sales. I guess not every manufacturer is suffering with lower sales. I am not a Tesla fan but strong sales don't happen by accident.

The sales numbers are just for the US I believe and do not include sales to Europe and Canada.

Remember in addition to the already ongoing chip shortage that earthquake in Japan halted production at Ford's main chip supplier. So these low numbers are temporary but will take a lot of time to fix. Just really unfortunate timing for all of us waiting for one right now. Tesla certainly had a more secure supply chain.

I'd like to know how many MACH-e were sold in China last quarter from the China factory. I can't find that anywhere.

Hah. I bet Henry Ford the First is either spinning in his grave or laughing his ass off. Back in the day part of the business plan was to avoid supply chain troubles by owning the whole shebang, mostly on one big piece of property.

Foundry? Check. Lumber yard? Check. Stamping plant? Check. Recycling facility to turn junk cars into new steel? Check. Dealership network to harvest used-up cars on trade? Check. Car haulers to bring the old cars in and the new cars out? Check.

Chips? Probably -- in the commissary right next to the salsa.

Ha yeah, cars were also a lot less complex back then and the industry of turning raw materials into car parts didn't really exist independently then either. Now specialized manufacturers do but there certainly is an argument to having some control over, and especially for critical parts, of this supply process. Tesla doesn't do everything in house but they do as much as they can for good reason.
