They are GREAT cars. If I lived in the US, I would be driving one. However, I need an SUV with my family (and giant dog) and I want to go electric. Nothing on the market was doing it for, besides the Model X, which I don’t have the money for, and the Y which I don’t like the look of. Then the MME landed and I turned into a kid at Christmas! You just know Ford is not going to f**k around with this car if it has the Mustang badge on it. It’s going to drive like a beast. The irony here, which the haters are unable to see, is that the MME had to be born in order to continue making V8s! They’re not the most fuel efficient. They would struggle to stay alive, even with a 1.5% emissions roll back... the MME offsets their inefficiency and allows the V8 to live another couple of years... then they need to make way for V8.0 lol
I 100% agree with you.
Today Ford announced the CANCELLATION of the Mustang GT 350. The article even stated that the company was going in a different direction with the MME. I can almost guarantee that there will be a Shelby/Rousch Version soon.

Does anybody know if any Mustang Owners groups object or are supporting the petition?

Regarding the remark above about countries going or not going toward eliminating ICEVs: Several EU countries have already stated their desire to stop sales of new ICEVs by 2035 or 2040 in their countries. Granted, people generally drive shorter distances in Europe than in North America, but by 2035-2040, I expect that the public-charging infrastructure (and technology, for fast charging virtually everywhere) for EVs will be close to what gasoline/petrol-filling infrastructure is today.

ford came out yesterday and said publicly that they are going AGAINST the Trump administration and staying with the high emission standards set in California. In short they are going BEV. It will be sooner then 2035. I expect to see companies like EA regularly in about 2 years. EA is the biggest one today. I expect ALL of the oil companies to transition to electric offering both electric and gas at all of their stations.

Trying to stay out of politics here. Ford staying with a higher emission standard isn't against the Trump administration. Ford is perfectly able to do anything they want in that regard as long as it meets the minimum CAFE standard set by the Feds.

Let's applaud Ford to doing what they think is correct for them and good business, we'll see if it helps them compete over the next decade. But this is NOT a political argument.

And how any single manufacturer views it is usually through the lens of how well positioned they are relative to the competition to come out ahead or behind them.

In other words... if it hurts Toyota and GM more than it hurts Ford, then Ford is probably OK with it.

Except that "fast charging" isn't really fast charging. It's still quite slow. It's just not AS slow as L1 and L2 charging.

Fast refueling is a 3-minute full tank of gas providing 400 miles of range.

That's why most people will avoid BEVs if they don't have dedicated overnight charging capability. BEVs are great for the right purposes. It's why I'm getting one. But they're not great for all purposes. For some they're a PITA.

I also won't jump into the politics of it, and as to what side is correct. But to say that this is not a political matter ignores the fight over the past twelve months between California and the Trump administration over whether or not California can set its own standards -- and the deal California had struck with Ford, VW, Honda and BMW. Ford's statement does indicate renewed support for the framework that the Trump administration is directly opposing:

“We remain committed to meeting emission reductions consistent with the California framework and continue to believe that this path is what’s best for our customers, the environment, and the short- and long-term health of the auto industry,”

I've seen those, too. They're speculation based on the VIN decoders released here!
