10/11 build week gang

Same train mine went on, only it arrived in KC on 11/1. It’s now in a distribution lot in Ayer, MA awaiting a truck to deliver it to my dealer 29 miles away.
If you check earlier posts in the thread (25-30 or so) you’ll find info about tracing with Norfolk Southern. A rail car number will be attached to your VIN, but you’ll need to get that number from your dealer’s vehicle visibility report, or by setting up an account with United Road, if I’m not mistaken. Good luck.

While it was nice to trace it like this, on the other hand it’s frustrating to know that my car is so close, yet so far! Dealers are totally at the mercy of the trucking companies, who are short on drivers.

If yours was delivered 11/1 in KC and you still don't have it, my chances are low!
Mine was delivered to BIRMINGHAM, MO on Nov-21 so it's going to take a while...

I think the last leg, from the rail yard/distribution center to the dealer is the one part that’s completely unpredictable.

That’s due to the truck driver shortage, which is likely worse in some areas of the country than others.

For instance, it seems the trucking company that delivers to my dealer, as well as to other dealers, including Subaru, is Boston-based and only has 42 employees!

It’s no wonder my salesman said that they have no idea when trucks are going to make deliveries. He said that in the past they were on a regular schedule, and they could tell customers when to actually expect their cars. Damn covid!

Some of you have been able to get some tracking with the help of @connoisseurr which has been awesome.

But, the last leg(s) of the trip is the most anxiety inducing. Some of us (like me) got our cars before delivery date. Some are seeing their dates slip.

I really wish there was rhyme or reason for it. But I couldn’t figure it out. Everything was speculation.

But fear not, your car will be awesome.

Im keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you all that you get it before the year ends!!

While it was great to be able to track the rail car, it unfortunately provided me with proximity info (yay, only 29 miles from my dealer!), which set me up for a massive letdown when my ETA slipped by 32-39 days. I’m just hoping that addition is just a “this should cover us” over estimate by Ford.

I agree with your thoughts on the hype and expectation. I took delivery of mine last night. The dealer did not understand Options and instead quoted me a Red Carpet Lease (RCL), despite my repeated protests. The desk manager (the guy working the deal) insisted that ford.com was wrong. They have some “vincent” (probably spelled wrong) system that lets them know what financing works and Options was not there, but RCL was. I fully expect them to call me back in on Monday to fix the problem with financing.

That aside, the car is AMAZING!!!! After just driving it 15 miles last night, I can say that I would have happily waited several more months if needed, knowing what I know now. I have only tested adaptive cruise and PAAK, both of which work very well. Oddly, the premium sound system is not quite as good as the Bose system in my LEAF. The ride is much better. The performance is disturbingly good, more performance than I need in a daily driver and certainly enough to get me into trouble on light-to-light runs with unsuspecting opponents in the adjacent lane.

My son (partly in the photo) took it around the block and even strung it out a little. He declared that the car is truly sick which I think means that he approves.

It is Dark Matter Gray. I kept remembering it as Dark Gray Matter (I guess I am getting old), but that sounds like a brain injury. My son calls it Light Black, which is strangely appropriate.

BTW: Just this morning VIN searches stopped reporting various status (including Ford order tracker).
I just hope it doesn't get a stop hold like others reported.
