Any good recommendations on traveling in compact snow and ice with 1PD? Going over the 90 Snoqualmie Pass later today.
Seems chains required except AWD

I would say that if you are comfortable and practiced with 1PD, just drive. If you question how comfortable you would feel on grade with snow, switch to 2PD. 🤔🐩

I have read on this forum to switch to whisper when driving in the snow and ice. I have also read here to drive in 2 pedal. I'm in Washington state as well. I'm now used to the 1 pedal drive and had to "practice" 2 pedal in my mach e recently. I have been fortunate enough to only drive White and Snoqualmie pass when they have been bare and wet.

Well the pass was a little messy and was fine. It’s when I pulled into a parking lot is when I got stuck. Heavy cement snow took multiple folks to help get me out. The low centre point it what killed me

I only use 1 pedal drive and have taken my GT up the mountains in snowstorms to go boarding and skiing without issue.

Glad to hear you got the help to get out! Sounds like it went well other than that. Any regrets or success using 1pd with those conditions?

I think because it is a gentle slow down vs using the pedal it maybe more consistent and even pace if that makes sense

Makes sense.

I had my MME in some snowy/slushy conditions driving Snoqualmie Pass when I had it and used 1pd, and I liked it. Similar to engine braking in my ICE cars. I grew up in SLC, UT and frequently drove snowy canyons and came to prefer engine braking in snow, so the 1pd is my preferred snow mode.

The only snow I have had to drive in my Lightning so far was more of an overnight skiff of freezing rain and a few snowflakes. Made for a crunchy slippery road. 1pd for the win again.

The Lightning may have fared better in your deep snow scenario yesterday with the better clearance and less likely to get high-centered. Still possible if it's deep enough, but less likely.
