So I stopped reading this forum for the most part quite a while back. The main reason was how negative some people were being or just looking for things that were wrong and I just wanted to experience the MME on my own terms. Additionally I feel like people tend to grasp onto negative news and miss the positive. Well I thought I would post some positive news.

Below are the notes I took on a 2,000 mile road trip from Denver, CO to Memphis, TN (via Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas) with two days in Memphis before heading back to Denver. I divided the trip into 2 days each way. Each day was about 10 hours in the car and charging total. Minus one segment where I ran into a pretty strong headwind in Kansas, I maintained a speed of 75 mph via the intelligent cruise control and via lane centering. One thing I found out is the lane centering does not work when driving into the sun. Not a big deal honestly but thought I would pass it along.

In summary, I had anxiety as this was my very first long road trip. I had made a couple of 4 hour trips (total not each way) into the CO mountains without needing to recharge due to the regen I got on the way down. But nothing this long. I charged almost exclusively on Electrify America minus in Oklahoma where I basically had to use Frances Energy except in Blackwell, OK. Plug and charge worked flawlessly for EA the entire time. Had one charger reset in Tulsa for Frances Energy and I avoided that station on my way back due to the lack of amenities nearby.

Here are my notes on my charges.

I ran out of free kwh with EA after the return trip in Hays, KS. I had 500 free kwh due to the delay and had used a little before this trip on a test. When I ran out, I switched to EA pass plus and turned off plug and charge. Also I included the costs of charging with plug and charge so those can compare to gas vehicles. For me I actually saved money as my old car was a Mini countryman and took premium which is about $4.00 a gallon. Each leg would have used about 18-19 gallons for the mini at an average of 31 mpg or about $75 per segment. Lastly it took me between 9.5 and 10.5 hours for each segment. If a segment does not mention the charging company, it was done via EA.

Great write-up!

It's crazy the difference in efficiency between mid 60s mph and mid 70s mph. I drove from SF to the Fresno area yesterday, about 209 miles. Started at 84% battery and arrived at my hotel with 29%. Averaged about 67mph on the roughly 195 miles of freeway driving, pretty flat outside the Altamont Pass, and possibly a slight helping wind from the Northwest, although I didn't feel it. I averaged 4.1mpk for the total drive (3.9 for the freeway portion).
