Took a trip to the Traverse City area to see some leaves, and drinks some brews. For the first time I noticed a problem with my miles per kWh data.

Each trip I reset Trip 1 (Trip 2 is original to buying the car). Therefore, for the first leg, Trip 1 and This Trip match. Except when they don't. I drove 101 miles before my first charge. This Trip showed 2.6 miles per kWh, Trip 1 showed 3.1. Doing some rough calculations - left with 100% charge (91kWh), arrived with 59% (~53.7kWh). Charged to 80% (~72.8kWh), which took 23.026 from the EA charger. With 10% loss, that's close to around the energy it should have taken. Let's call it 20kWh.

At the next stop, it was 100% free charging. Display showed 103.9 miles since last stop, and efficiency of 2.4 miles per kWh. No app, and I didn't write down the kWh I got, so I have to use FP. (69% of 91 = 62.79kWh).

Total driving was 101 miles at 2.6 and 103.9 miles at 2.4. Simple math shows a 2.5 average.

Calculated math - 20 + 63 = 83kWh of energy used. 205 miles / 83 = 2.47 miles per kWh. Bingo. Except Trip 1 is showing 3 miles per kWh, which is incorrect.

As others have said, sometimes it doesn't reset the calculation. Even though it showed 0.0 on the reset, it retained the 3.1.

Temps were around 40 - 44 degrees, and we did set a departure time, but also ran the heat.

This really shows how you can't trust either Trip 1 or Trip 2...

Didn't charge again until after we'd been up there and then back, again hitting the free charger. Had driven 124 more miles. Display for the last leg (100 miles) showed 2.8 efficiency. Trip 1 still holding at 3.0 (not reset from start the day prior). Added 39.2 kWh from charger. Then drove next leg, with efficiency showing 2.5, so I stopped off to top off - turned out it was free (EA), and I added 37kWh. Then drove home, and added 51.8 to get to 90%.

So, let's calculate the entire trip.

Trip 1 says I drove 557 miles with an efficiency of 3.0.
Trip 2 says I drove (4346 - 3790) 556 miles, and my overall efficiency has dropped from 3.1 to 3.0.
Odometer says I drove 4355-3799= 556 miles, so everyone agrees on miles.

Based on efficiencies I saw, I expect my entire trip was around 2.8 miles per kWh. Complete trip 1 showed 3.0.

I added up all my charges, and I added 213.8kW. With a loss of 10%, that's 192.5. Add another 9 to "fill up" to 100%, so the trip used 201.5.

557/201.5 = 2.76. So right on with my expectations based on the dash display. So Trip 1's efficiency is crap.

And, temps of 40s to 50s impact range, as does a speed limit of 75mph.

Did you do 75mph where indicated? I'll be heading up to Boyne this winter, already trying to plan it out. ABRP thinks I probably need two stops on the way up, but we'll see (there's a free L2 in Boyne I'm hoping to use overnight, my friend can ferry me back and forth to it).

Yes, we did 75 (actually 78) where indicated. It was in the low 40s. 2.4 - 2.5m/kWh.
