I just drove 600 miles with my 2022 Premium AWD ER and I had to charge twice on a 100 kW charger. I got a charging speed of around 72-74kW, which is the same speed I got with my previous 2021 Select AWD SR. I'm kind of disappointed. With more battery cells, I thought I would be able to charge faster. Do you all get the same charging curve as I had?

It sounds like you're hitting the amperage limits of the charger. A charger is actually rated by how many amps it can put out. It can probably hit 100kW on 800v architecture cars, or if your nominal voltage is closer to 400v (the Mach-E seems to sit a fair amount below that through most of its discharge curve).

I would look at either the specs of the station (usually on the side of the dispenser), or use an OBD dongle to see how many amps a charger is advertising it can do. Multiply the amps by your pack voltage, and you'll get the charging speed in kW.

That's because the charger is the limiting factor, not the batteries. You are probably running into a 200A current limit, guessing you're using a ChargePoint Express 250.

You need to use a 150 kW or larger DCFC to see a difference.

Thank you! I'll take a look at the amperage next time I use it. It's probably 200A, makes sense.

I was using a Circuit Electrique 100Kw charger in Quebec. This page doesn't give any useful information about the charger.

Edit: You were both right! It's 200A*400V
