YEP, To some people 113k is pocket lint ,some folks have so much the only thing they cant buy is more time. GOOD FOR THEM! If I was one of them and I wanted the car I would do the same thing....

California has the same law on the books as well, Vehicle Code 5200. Some people choose to ignore it and almost always get away with it, including a couple of people in this thread apparently.

It's a 15 dollar fix it ticket... not normally a ticket for the police officers... more of parking enforcement... and worth it...

I agree it generally will happen when parked in areas under the jurisdiction of a municipal parking enforcement agency. However, for what it's worth, the penalty is over $100+ in SF. As to whether it's worth it or not, I guess it depends on one's level of exposure. I would suggest that if you park on the streets in SF on a regular basis, you may start to think it is not.

The one issue in NYC is there are automated meter maids that drive around with a scanning camera. If you are parked in the wrong direction and the camera doesn't see a plate you are pretty much always getting a ticket.
