I've been trying to find the vehicle that is and EV, has enough space, and is reliable - and it seems to be the 2023 mach-e?

I talked to a ford dealer mechanic who said he has seen alot less 2023 models come in with problems than other years (a sample size of one i realize) which I later found kind of fits with consumer reports "predicted" reliability score (think of them what you will) but I wanted to try to try to get an idea from owners on the forum. I wasn't sure how to put it into a poll form but would be grateful to hear what others think or even better if others have heard similar, opposite, etc info?

This forum has all the information you could possibly desire regarding.

There's 2 current threads with praise from owners with 100,000 miles or more.

Those certainly aren't 2023 cars. ?

Sure enough it's a forum. Literally exists to report problems and to vent when you need to let off some steam. That stuff is here too.
But there are so many less vocal folks that will chime in when the goodwill threads pop up. This EV has a LOT of happy owners. And I'm amazed at the number of owners that claim it's the best car they have ever owned.

Any brand new model, regardless of brand, always has initial bugs to work out. Toyotas completely new V6 engine needs replacement in about 100k Tundras and Lexus models.
We had a First Edition, plenty of recalls, didn't get any addressed and never got stranded but was prepared. We have a 22 GTPE now and besides the HVJB, again haven't done the recall, solid vehicle still.
Most early models should have been taken care of under warranty so I wouldn't. Just ensure you ask for the Oasis report from Ford Service on the VIN to see all has been addressed. The plant that builds the MachE is one of the highest quality production plants among all manufacturers. Good luck.

Short answer? Yes. For sure 2023 models have less issues than prior years.

However 2021 and 2022 models also have less issues now than they did a couple years ago.

Why? Because most of the small issues were fixed with the dozens of updates over the last 3 years.

And the biggest issue (HVBJB failures) was fixed by the recall.

That said, a 2023 model should be more reliable as well just because it’ll be newer and likely less mileage.

But I wouldn’t shy away from a used 2021-2022 either, especially if you can save many thousands of dollars buying one of those.

If you can find someone that can fully update a '21 or '22 to latest software, they are functionally just as good as a '23. Plus will have a few more features.

In short thanks to everyone for your responses. I've been looking through the forum and have to say it seems to be a welcoming and informative place so I should probably have put that into my criteria - cordial community.

I just wanted to jump in and offer that I have owned a bevy of Audis, BMWs, a Mercedes, Lexus, and even a Cadillac CTS-V over the lest 25 years, and my 2024 MME Premium 4X is the best overall car I’ve ever owned.

I'll jump in as well. I've had my '23 MME Premium ER AWD for a tad over a year now. The only 'issues' I've had are a few annoying things that are not really important and have all either fixed themselves or can't be fixed (i.e. mirror wind noise). I've had lots of Ford cars as well as other brands and I've never enjoyed driving a car more than my MME. 4.8 out of 5 stars!

2022 Premium AWD ER now for 2 years and very happy with it. The only issue was the HVBJB recall. It took a while for them to get the part and get it done, but it has been a great car with no other issues.

2021 AWD Extended Range Premium with 35988 miles HVBJB & 3-12volt batteries, other than that one of the best cars we have owned - will be putting new tires on before snow flies

Going from memory (no hard numbers here), I do not recall seeing many more complaints from 2023 owners than from 2021-2022 owners. During the winter we get a lot of “Did Ford put the wrong battery in my car” complaints (no, it’s cold so the battery chemistry is less active, so the battery holds less “juice”). We get GT-Performandce Edition owners complaining that their tires either cracked or wore out prematurely (ultra-soft Summer Ultra-High Performance tires). Those kinds of complaints span all of the model years. ?‍♂?

I have had my '23 GTPE since June of 24 with no issues (so, not very long). I love driving this car. So much fun. My only issue is the Ford Pass app can be glitchy from time to time. But, no issues with the vehicle. Love it!

My 2023.5 premium ER has had zero issues since purchase. Software has had zero glitches and certainly no issues mechanical. That said, my family views it as too small so I am looking to sell it.
