That's for a binding agreement to purchase the car. The dealer said if the car has been built but not yet delivered to the dealership, they'd let me "take delivery" and do all the paperwork, presumably buying the car before 12/31. Sounds a bit sus lol

It does sound a little sus, but I'm in the same tax boat so I'm following this closely.

I'm worried my 2023 income will price me out of the credit.

Out of curiosity, all of you that ordered on 8/30 and got a production date. Did you all order early in the morning? did you do online or at dealer? Are you all in in different parts of the country?
Online 8/30 8:56 am eastern

8/30 order, Premium SR AWD, 10/31 Build date, VIN 42XX

I wasn’t paying much attention to how The tax credits will work for a 2022 delivery date - just assumed it wasn’t going to happen. Do the income limits still apply if this car magically appears at my dealer in December? I assume yes, but had to ask….

Income limits apply to a vehicle placed in service after 12/31/2022.

Hmm… but we will run into the 200,000 car cap instead? Thought that went away when the bill was signed, but this link makes it sound like it goes through 12/31/2022. I’ll take half a credit over no credit, so still strongly prefer a 2022 delivery.

The full amount of the credit for Ford vehicles will be available through the end of the year. The 200K figure is not a hard limit. It is a trigger. The full value of the credit is available for the quarter after the quarter in which a manufacturer hits the 200K trigger. I.e, under the old rules, if a manufacturer hits the 200K trigger in Q3, the full value is still available in Q4. In Q1 is when it would've been cut in half under the old rules. Since Ford never hit the 200K trigger in Q2, the full value of the credit was always going to be available through the end of the year under the old rules.

I ordered a premium and a GT on August 30th, hoping to get them in mid 2023 and they're both scheduled already. The GT is scheduled for 10/14 and the Premium is scheduled for 10/28. I just got my 22 MME in July that was ordered in October 2021 so I wasn't expecting them so soon. But just because they are scheduled doesn't mean they will be here quick. My 22 was built January 10th and arrived at the dealer in June after all the chip holds and transportation delays.
If your GT is scheduled for 10/14, then it is a 2022. Same for the Premium with it's production day of 10/28. Are you sure you have the correct month?

All these 8/30 orders with build dates are crazy. I order my Select in early April. Just got a build date today of 11/14. Interesting how they schedule things.

Every MME bult in the build week of 10/31/22 and after will be a 2023MY unit. The 10th digit of the VIN will be "P", the 2023 model year code letter.

Sadly, from experience, because you're "scheduled" 10/31 does not mean that is when your unit will be assembled but keep hope alive. Also, the 2nd MME assembly line at Cuautitlan is yet to be in evidence.
