Hi all! I want to share my experience after getting stuck in mud on the side of the road in Peducah, KY.

As you might know, there’s only 2 winch (or tow) points at the front of the car that can be used. You cannot winch or tow this car out from the rear. The car was stuck fast in the mud, and there was very little clearance from the ground to see the front winch points, although I could feel them with my hands. The first tow truck driver that came out wanted to attach a winch line on the forged aluminum front suspension, and drag the car sideways. I said that was a no-no because it would screw up the car and I had a long drive back. He left in a huff. The second guy had a great idea: attach strapping through each rear wheel, and winch the car by the rear wheels. Leaving it in park so the wheels would not turn, we dragged it out of the mud. I wish I took a pic of that process, but all I have is the car just stuck in the mud before winching out. You can see there is enough space through the open spoke of the rim/wheel to pass a strap through and tighten around the rim. This guy saved me a lot of heartaches --and possibly $$$$$!

Ouch.

Glad that it worked and didn't rip the wheels off

Why has no one asked HOW this happened? The road is not even visible, so it looks like more than just pulling over on the side of the road (though it could just be the angle of the picture taken).

Hopefully it occurred due to exuberant dumbassery and general hooniganism. I know just about every time I've gotten a vehicle stuck those were the primary reasons.

That’s very similar to how NASCAR Cup cars get towed with the current generation car, except they use a big spacer/truss bar to lift the front or rear end of the car. Glad they got you out and your car didn’t suffer further damage. 😊🐩

So one time I took our AWD Ford Aerostar off roading and sunk it in a marsh. Turns out the person at the start of the turn off owned a back-hoe and was willing to chug out into the woods and drag me out! Ahh the joys of being young

Hah- did that with an Isuzu Trooper, in the mud up to the headlights. Farmer had a combine nearby that we hooked to the trailer hitch. It was hilarious, for a minute. An undercarriage full of mud does interesting things to the suspension and drivetrain.

hee...hee…thought you would nvr ask! We were heading to TN, stopping at a charging station in KY, took a wrong turn, had to do a u-turn back, my sister was driving (she’s not a very good driver!) and instead of staying on the road to turn around, she swung out in a big arc, grabbed a bunch of mud. sheesh

LOL I’ve gotten the Blazer stuck in a soggy rice field. Definitely needed the farmer’s tractor to get it out. 😅🐩

Back in 1979 we drove a Datsun 280Z from Michigan to Colorado to go skiing. On the way home, traffic. Got off highway, navigating on frozen farm roads with maps. "Turn here". Broke through frozen mud surface of road, slid into ditch. Tried to get it out (very front heavy car). Opened door to see back (rear wheel drive), and spinning wheels sent mud onto the door...

Eventually a farmer towed us out with his tractor. As we drove down the road, steering wheel was bouncing up and down. Stopped at a closed gas station, go owner to let us use water spigot on their house to wet down mud on wheels and scoop off with frozen hands until the tires were no longer unbalanced.

As we continued our drive with heat blasting, the mud defrosted. It was rich in MANURE. Car smelled like crap all way back. When we stopped for breakfast, they seated us in a closed dining room.
