Hi all! I want to share my experience after getting stuck in mud on the side of the road in Peducah, KY.
As you might know, there’s only 2 winch (or tow) points at the front of the car that can be used. You cannot winch or tow this car out from the rear. The car was stuck fast in the mud, and there was very little clearance from the ground to see the front winch points, although I could feel them with my hands. The first tow truck driver that came out wanted to attach a winch line on the forged aluminum front suspension, and drag the car sideways. I said that was a no-no because it would screw up the car and I had a long drive back. He left in a huff. The second guy had a great idea: attach strapping through each rear wheel, and winch the car by the rear wheels. Leaving it in park so the wheels would not turn, we dragged it out of the mud. I wish I took a pic of that process, but all I have is the car just stuck in the mud before winching out. You can see there is enough space through the open spoke of the rim/wheel to pass a strap through and tighten around the rim. This guy saved me a lot of heartaches --and possibly $$$$$!
