Lose the strips & spoiler, offer different wheels, keep the rest, and I'd definitely be interested in this. In other words, gimme an MME that has off-road street cred for the shitty streets of San Francisco! 😊🤣

Hopefully, for the sake of the current GT/GTPE owners, that an all new motor is not a requisite for the removal of the 5 second limit.
Based on everything we know about this car, the rear motor was not a thermal bottleneck, so that alone should not be a reason we can’t get an update.

Werd... the bottleneck is definitely the Ford executive team. Hey C-Suite push the OTA button already. Give us the update.

Based on how long the bluecruise update is taking to come OTA vs. how long it’s been shipping on cars from the factory, we’ll be lucky to see any kind of power update before this time next year.

They said we are getting an update.

This is the first time I’ve heard the words ā€œremovedā€ in reference to the 5 second limit, so that’s a huge deal.

ā€œWe will change that limitā€ is different than ā€œremoved.ā€

The new motor does explain the extra torque. Although that does tell us we probably won’t get the extra tq ourselves OTA.

That’s because Redline Reviews mistook the information. The max power limit has been extended, not removed. Ford doesn’t know exactly how long it will be but the Rally will hold WOT significantly longer than the GT does now. Ford wants to have the fix should trickle down to existing GTs but they aren’t there yet.

@ the 2:50 mark, redline reviews said that the software limit was removed and the rear motor was upgraded to an all new motor.

Hopefully, for the sake of the current GT/GTPE owners, that an all new motor is not a requisite for the removal of the 5 second limit.
So I'm not sure if we can believe all the specs because there might have been some confusion.

They are claiming 10-80% charge time of 36 minutes on the extended range pack, which would be a charge curve improvement over the current 45 minutes. However 36 minutes is the current time for the standard range pack, so it's possible they may have made a mistake? @Mach-E VLOG can you verify if the DC charge speed for the extended range pack has been improved or if that was just an error? If true that would be big news, 36-38 minutes is the charging curve I predicted was possible with the existing hardware. No idea if we would get that improvement or not.

I'm not sure if we can believe the 5 second rule is gone unless Donna said so. Journalists may just be repeating what Darren Palmer said previously, and misstated it was removed. If anything, I would expect a longer power limit (maybe 7 seconds?) but I won't believe the limit is completely gone until I see it or hear it from Donna.

Donna also confirmed a new larger rear motor is coming (not a software update?) that will raise total torque to 650 ft-lbs.

You sure they don’t have the fix yet?

From the interview they have done extensive testing, will change the limit, and will do it OTA.

It seems way more concrete than ā€œwants to have a fix.ā€

The ā€œfixā€ is literally a few keystrokes on a computer. It was the testing and now the release that takes time.

I’m not going to argue semantics or overly simplify the solution to a few keystrokes. The point is Ford has a fix for the Rally and wants to pass as much of that to existing GT owners as they can.

Confirmed by Donna. It is faster charging off the ER pack.

Confirmed by Donna and a lead on the team: the WOT time is significantly longer.

It’s not semantics.

Either they have a fix or they don’t.

And in terms of the actual tuning aspect, yeah, it’s literally a few keystrokes.

The power programming is likely waaaaay less complicated than a tune in an ICE car (which is based on fuel trims, knock sensors, adjusts for o2 sensor feedback, air/fuel ratios etc.

And even the ICE tunes are a few keystrokes (it’s all either fixed parameters or tables). I went through over 100 custom tunes that I tuned myself in my past vehicles using a laptop and HP tuners software and many many data logs.

My guess is some things will be changed simply (like change a 5 to a 10). And others? Will be tables that are also easily changed (like a plot of temperature, speed and discharge rate).

Either way, it’s not like they don’t know how to change the 5 sec limit.

Meh, not really interested in a "rally edition". IMO. But if that is your thing, enjoy!!

It’s not a real Rally. It’s an auto show mule.
Well it might be interesting to see what they started with (if it has an actual VIN at all).
