with approx 6k miles on my 2022 GT I was driving downhill on mountain road I had approx 45% SOC, I touched the climate control "auto" icon on the screen and the main screen went black except for the Android auto display which continues to be displayed. A warning came up on the drivers screen saying something to the effect that vehicle has lost power or powered off. It seemed to still have some slight acceleration as I pushed accelerator , but this could have been just removing any resistance due to going down hill from Regen system? I continued coasting downhill with the car in this state for about 1/8 mile to a pull out. Pulled in, stopped car using brake slowly but as it got close to a complete stop it abruptly stopped. After a few seconds, I hit the start button , it started like normal and when I went to put it in Drive and move it forward it clunked hard. Apparently the parking prowl had latched into position just before I came to a complete stop, so moving out of Park into Drive was rough. I've driven it another 1500 miles since then no issues. has anyone else had this happen? My wife was in the car at the time and now she won't drive it anymore.

If there's even a slight chance of this happening it'll happen to me, while my wife is there. I'll keep you informed of my progress :)

How long had you been driving down the mountain road and was it steep? The reason I ask is because the regen has limitations and cannot be used for an extended period of time without overheating.

They REALLY need to fix that so the park pawl doesn’t engage until the vehicle is moving 1 mph or less. So dumb that it just slams into park and bounces off the park pawl like it’s nobody’s business. It’s possible your park pawl was broken, so don’t trust the car not to roll until you’ve tried it a few times.

I’m not sure what your problem was, could have just been torque error due to extensive downhill driving with high regen?

I had been going downhill for approx 10 min , with small amount of regen most of that time , I've driven this route at least 100 times with no issue. I've also driven much more extreme downhill sections with no issue. it really seemed like a software glitch as it coincided exactly at the time I touched to climate control icon

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your Mach-E concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

Crazy, an HVBJB failure would look exactly like this (regen downhill, lost power) until you said you were able to start it back up with no issue once you were stopped. It still might be that and the code didn’t register to prevent the next startup.

I would delete this post and DM your VIN to Ford. Some people don't care about their VIN being public, but I would not make mine public.

Just like wearing underwear in front of Superman, what’s the point in hiding information that’s public anyways?

For the OP, since it happened when you leaned over to hit a button, are you 100% certain you didn’t accidentally push the start/stop button?

Just weeding out the simple stuff first. Very odd indeed.

Also for the OP, you have to click on FMC’s name then click “start conversation” and send your VIN.

Would be a big fail on ford part if it was that easy to shut the car down while going 60 mph.

Do you know the VIN of my car? Don't post it if you do, but I doubt you are Superman.

Anyone who walks past your car can see it.

Just like wearing your underwear outside your pants (kinda like Superman does!)

If you want to be super secretive, that’s your choice I guess, but no need to spread paranoia to others.

I remember when working at a retail store, every once in a while someone would scratch out their credit card number on the signed receipt. I’d just roll my eyes since we have the number stored in the system anyways.

People get worried about the wrong things I guess. But thats pretty normal too. Fear is rarely rational. Scream when you see a non-poisonous spider. But if you see a bear in the woods…….. take a picture!

the event took place late August, I did not touch the Start/Stop button. Also note that all the Ford part of main screen went blank but the Android Auto keep running on the upper part. The warning on the drivers screen stayed on for a few seconds then went blank. I'm pretty sure the gear shift nob also didn't show any gear selected . I believe the car wanted to go into Park but couldn't till I slowed to a certain point.

Definitely an odd one. I would for sure have it checked out to see if it stored any error codes.

It’s possible it’s a one time bug, but that’s scary enough I would want it checked out.

FWIW, when you reach out to Ford here they do 1 thing- create a service ticket and send you to your local dealership. The dealership will get your info too. Don’t fret though, it’ll just make your experience a little easier when you try to explain what happened to the service center. But no one can do anything until they look at your car.

Good luck!
